The thoughts of many liberal as I see it

I've been to Rome and its pretty incredible. Theres so much history there that its hard to comprehend. You can stand inside the Colosseum, and you can tell yourself that it has been standing there for literally thousands of years….yet its just so hard to take it all in!

I sensed death like I did on the battlefields in France.

Not at all. My girlfriend is American and has been to more countries than I have, although not as frequently. It's true that Americans dont travel anywhere near as much as other nations, but I can understand that given the size of the country and how far you can be from the nearest border.

I was just trying to figure out where all the hostility comes from in the posts on here.

In short, we love freedom.

:eek:k:

I just happen to despise both of our political parties!

The U.S. is a very large country that has just about every kind of terrain imaginable. You also have to factor in the many different types of people you will encounter in different areas of the country. It is almost as if you were in a different country sometimes.

Anywhere south of Jackson Mississippi and it is almost as if everyone is speaking another language.

Most Americans don't care for social democracy and the United Nations. Whenever there is a crisis is some remote corner of the world, the US is often the first country there providing relief. Do we get thanks for it? No, and we don't ask for thanks. We also don't ask to get called a bunch of imperialist barbarians forcing our way of life on the world. The world can't have it both ways. It can't rely on the US to bail it out if it's just going to stab the US in the back on the floor of the UN.

I love how foreign and domestic writers ink stories about the downfall of America and how we're losing our power.. These same writers seem to revel in the growth of China or Japan and how Russia is meeting with Cuba or Venezuala. Amazing how people forget.

Like I said earlier, would you prefer it if the only people that posted on here were those that agreed with you?

Anyway, like I said in my first few posts..my main motivation for talking about healthcare were not to convince you. I'm not American, I'm not that bothered about what you choose to do. I wanted to tell you my first hand experience of what its like to have a social healthcare system. I simply find it surprising that people who have not experienced such a system can be so sure of its quality. I've seen people on TV who honestly believe that in the UK we have so called 'death panels' where buerecrats decide who lives and who dies, and it simply isnt true.

I'll play along, are you able to call your doctor and get in the same day or week?

Found this on a political forum. Thoughts like these are much more vile than the imagined thoughts they try to quell. Funny how this person thinly veils wanting to squash first amendment rights for every American under the guise of keeping every one safe including the protesters themselves. Simply unacceptable!

Read Below:

The racist hate fest that took place in D.C. on September 12 can never be repeated. Crazed, foaming rightists displayed contempt for our nation , our process, and our President under the guise of freedom of assembly. I work for a Democratic Nashville Congressman with whom I have not and will never broach this subject, because the momentum has to come, apparently organically from our supporters, minority and union members who know this zeitgeist of pure hate, reviling African Americans, gays, immigrants-particularly our undocumented workers, and Muslims, can simply not be tolerated in the interests of comity and good order. I can not identify myself or my employer because of the sensitive nature of this request. If you love our country and want to preserve our diversity and prevent anarchy, we must impose certain limits on speech and assembly. Please start calling your Representatives in the US House and describe your fears not only for your safety-you feel this was like a giant Ku Klux Klan meeting, but for the safety of the participants with so many gathering in an environment that is not controlled like the entry to a sporting event. Every obstacle must be placed before these nascent little Hitlers-delaying the permit process, saying their are not sufficient police resources to protect the participants, claiming that in an event with so many participants and no vetting that a terrorist attack becomes an inviting opportunity, even that such a large gathering can spread the flu/H1N1 virus. Better to deprive a fringe of haters of their speech now, than lose the country later. I implore all good Democrat supporters now to call for some common sense curbs on speech and assembly for everyones' safety-even the misguided participants.

Edit: After reading the title again I decided it was most likely too harsh. While there seems to be a growing number of voices who call anyone who differs in opinion to Obama a racist or what have you, I would sincerely hope they know if anything like this were to be done the country would be lost at once.

The person responsible for this is an absolute moron and should never be on any politicians staff.....period!

I see no evidence of any sort of thought process at all, what I see is mostly reguritation of propagandistic rhetoric that is outright deception or at least based on 99.9% nonfactual evidence.

of course! I was registered with a GP (General Practitioner) about 15mins from my house. The last time I went to the doctor was for a pain in my ear and fairly bad cough, I went to the doctor at 9am and was seen at 9:45am. Obviously that is not always the case..I've had occasions where I've had to wait over an hour (winters and the beginning of school semesters tend to be bad), but I've never not been able to see a doctor on the same day. The worst scenario is that it'll be busy so your 9am appointment becomes more like 10am-10:30am, but thats the same as my experience of private practice over here.

When I crashed my bike as a 12 year old and had a rusty nail from a fence slide underneath my fingernail, we drove to the hospital and I was seen within half an hour.

When I was in a car crash as 15 year old I was picked up by an ambulance and taken to a hospital and given a neck brace for the sprained neck before having follow up appointments to ensure nothing serious had occured.

It's very far from perfect, but its an option. People are also free to use private healthcare. When I broke my elbow snowboarding, I would have had to wait a few days for an MRI scan, but I had prvate healthcare through my employer so I was seen at a private hospital the day I came back from the Swiss Alps.

Again, nobody is saying that a public option is the same quality as private care, but its an option for people who cannot afford private.

Schedule an MRI and get back with us on how long it takes.

Well, if i just called up and asked for an MRI with no reason I doubt they are going to do it!

If it were for a genuine but non-urgent reason, then of course it'd probably be longer than with private care......but luckily if i really needed an MRI, THERE IS A PRIVATE SYSTEM TOO!!!

Why do people keep ignoring that part?
