The Swamp Horror Stories Thread

The entire east stands is where our students sit. Only the first 5-10 rows behind the bench are reserved for visiting fans.

The Vicki Fulmer urine bomb story has grown to urine and feces now....that's news.

Reading comprehension, try some.

I didn't say Vicki had urine or feces thrown on her. Go back and read the post again.

Our players have had that though, and like I said one of Shulers first jobs was to put on his helmet and shield Kelly so he could take his helmet off and talk on the phone to the booth.

I didn't remember Vicki getting urine thrown on her, I do remember the torn yellow dress when she was groped by the student section though.

The "Florida rule" has been a good one, those instances have dropped significantly since the SEC outlawed the students sitting behind the opposing bench.

Oh no! I ended a sentence with a preposition on an internet message board!

No, I wasn't criticizing your grammar. I was trying to say I simply don't understand the point you are trying to make. What do you mean by "another thing"? This doesn't make any sense to me. I am confused.

Just asking, but did you run out and buy season tix in 90/91 when you first got out of college??

As a matter of fact, yes.

My sister was on the coaching staff for womens hoops, so I purchsed season tickets through her from 1990 thru 2001. She's now the head coach at UCF in Orlando.

During the Zook years the booster donations dropped to where buying them without the UAA hookup wasn't too steep. So I've continued to renew them.

That was a good contact, a neighbor of mine is now the head women's coach of Xavier Bball.

I've been to 10 of the 12 SEC stadiums, and several other away games (such as Notre Dame, UCLA, Cal) and lots of bowl games. I know the Gators on this board don't want to hear this, but your fans are far and away the worst. I can't even think of a close second.

Sure, as a fan of the visiting team, you are always going to run into a drunk loudmouth or two, but the Gators take it to a whole new level. Large groups of them seem to take pride in seeing how obnoxious they can be. And what really showed me they have no class whatsoever was when I saw several of them go out of their way to cuss an older couple of UT fans in their 70s who were doing nothing but trying to get back to their car after the game. It was a sad display.

You really lack complete information here.

I grew up in Jax and I haven't missed a FL/GA game since 1982. Freshman in '86, graduated in '90. Gator from the start and from the heart.

But please, continue to make baseless assumptions based on my recent discovery of this message board.

The very fact that you are on this board points to your classlessness. The fact that you claim to have gone to gator games since '86 makes you even more classless. Why don't you find some gator friends instead of trolling this board?

How bad is it that Lawrence Wright has nothing better to do than try to agitate Vol fans?

Strangely enough, Kentucky fans were extremely loud and out of control back in '07. They'd just beaten LSU the week before, and GameDay was in Lexington for the first time. A couple of younger fans tried to tear down our tailgate tent while we were watching the Bama-UT game. Fisticuffs nearly ensued before a cop showed up and cooler heads prevailed.

Even after the game the UK fans were vocal. We quickly reminded them our winning streak against them was old enough to legally drink.

Good times.

ah, so we are supposed to ignore your drunken fans but you dont ignore others? practice what you preach.

Actually, I've heard so many so-and-so's fans are the worst ever, that I simply embrace the fallacy when it comes to the Gators.

A few years back, I watched a Vol fan in the Swamp puking and falling down the stairs at the same time. I didn't think that such a thing was possible, but it is. Many Gators rushed to her aid. Nobody laughed except her (supposed) husband/boyfriend. Who was the bad fan?

I'll let you decide.

Like I said earlier in the thread, we all have 'em. I was just basing my comment on the fact that he seemed proud of all the negative posts about gator fans. Besides, I don't think I referred to you or the people who helped the young lady. In the end, sometimes a few bad apples base your opinion on the whole orchard.

I am flying into Jacksonville and driving to Gainesville on Saturday morning. I have been down there the last two times we have played down there. I have definitely had my share of drunk UF frat boys, but besides that it hasn't been that bed. I got treated much worse at the 2005 Alabama game... much worse. Anyways, we normally go to the Grog House on University Avenue. I feel there is a decent mix of Vol fans. Anybody know anymore bars close to the stadium that would great to be at before the game? Is there an official Tennessee tailgating bar? If not, we should get one together. If it's not too late to start planning something like this.

Also, if anyone has some extra tickets for two die hard Vol fans, PLEASE let me know...

I know all about Kentucky fans.. You always hear something about this being the year. For the most part, they all have to be hammered before the games, I guess so they can actually watch it. Then afterwards, they mention something about wait until basketball season. But since this thread is about gator fans, I'll save my other thoughts for later in the season. Just had to say something about UK fans since I live around them and obviously have a strong hate for them.

First beleivable post in this thread . All Schools have a few jerks . BY FAR Florida is the worst . Beleive it or not Notre Dame was the coolest road trip I've ever been on as far as the fans go ! I went to the UF games in the CSS era and all the stories you here are true . Fans throw stuff at opposing fans and what I saw was'nt just a few knuckleheads . I havent been to a game since Zook had the program so things could be different now .

I was there in 2001, and it was a blast. The fans were extremely cool to me, and I didn't have a single person give me a hard time.
My friends and I went to a place called the Purple Porpoise to hang out on Friday night. We had Florida fans invite us to chill with them, and we talked football all night. They even played Rockytop on the sound system, and all the Tennessee fans got up on the stage to sing. It was fun.
After we won the game, I had Florida fans congratulating me (like I had anything to do with the win), and patting me on the back. We even had a UF fan buy us a pitcher of beer while at a bar celebrating the win.
That's when I noticed David Keith was there. I went to talk to him about how Maryville High School had just won another state title (he was a MHS fan too that year), so then he too bought us a pitcher.

You get what you give...nice story.

This will be my 7th trip to the swamp. I have never had a problem with Florida fans. You will see as much visiting fan abuse in Knoxville. Put 100,000 rabid SEC fans in a stadium and you will always have jerks.

Thank you.....

We certainly have our fair share of jerks in Gainesville but I don't think it's any worse than a gator fan going to TN or LSU etc. I went to Knoxville last year and the TN fans I encountered were great.

I dunno... we sometimes play better in the swamp than up here on the hallowed ground. Who knows... just kiddin' - we're gonna get killed.

I too live in Florida. Polk County to be exact which is predominantly redneck gator fans. What i hate about them is most here that i have found are band wagon fans. If the Gators ever falter they will be wearing Miami or FSU hats. Example my neighbor whom i've talked football with before never mentioned being a Gator fan but after they won the NC this past year all of a sudden they have a Gator flag in their window. I hate people like that.

Polk County. The home of the greatest sheriff in the USA. Sheriff Grady Judd. When asked why his officers shot the perpetrator (a cop killer) 147 times. Sheriff Judd answered "because we ran out of bullets." IN-FRICKIN-CREDIBLE. I love that guy.

I grew up in KY.. and I will actually kind of give them a pass on football season since they perpetually suck... AND... since we now have Bruce, that old saw about "Wait till basketball season" doesn't have as much meaning as in years past. :dance2:

I went to the CAL and UCLA games out there too.. CAL was really surprising to me with the piped in noise, but the tree people made it all worthwhile. Especially when the orange clad TN fan got interviewed by a local TV crew as to what he thought about it... and he (in the most awesome southern drawl I have ever heard) said.. "Well why don't they just climb the hell outta 'em trees and go out and get a JOB?!" Classic. :)

They just sent the students this lovely email. Hopefully we behave ourselves because it just makes us look bad when we start fights and throw things at opposing fans, it embarrasses the real fans.

Re: Florida-Tennessee Football Game

The University of Tennessee is one of our great school rivalries, and the
Florida-Tennessee football match-up is one we eagerly await each year. The
longstanding tradition wouldn't be what it is today if it weren't for the
mutual respect and the on-field talent upon which these two schools pride
themselves.

As we cheer on the Gators this weekend, we all need to remember we
represent the Gator Nation. Let's show the Volunteers what that means by
treating our guests with courtesy and respect when you see them in our
area restaurants as well as in and around Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on
Saturday.

We want the Tennessee players and fans to recall Gainesville as a place
where they faced a determined opponent with friendly, supportive fans.

We're proud of the successes Urban Meyer and the UF football team have had
in recent years and we wish them the best for the remainder of the season.

Have fun and go Gators!
