The Stop Being Negative Thread (merged)

Also FS did find a way to choke away when it looked like they turn the Tide with their best play a long running play.
VT Hokies look like the 1985 Bears the College Football version or the 2011 Crimson Tide.

It's amazing that 3/4 of their starters are underclassmen.

Youth isn't an excuse anymore.

I believe that a large portion of Volnation has become apathetic to the Volunteer Football team. 10 years of mediocrity, 5 head coaches, 4 athletic directors, overused slogans, subpar recruiting, etc. etc. etc. will take its toll. When I moved to Knoxville in 2002, you knew it was Football season by the massive amount of flags and magnetic Power T's on cars; fast forward to present day, I only saw 2-3 flags on cars Friday. Charlotte stadium wasn't even close to being packed out and it is much closer to Vol fans in Knoxville and Atlanta than WV fans. That game should have been a home game atmosphere for UT. There is a small percentage of Vol Fans who are vocal about the the team, the rest seem to not to care as much anymore. Its been a rough 10 years and being sold another rebuild project is not what any fan wants to hear now. I do like Pruitt and I think he can/will rebuild this team but will fans wait that long especially while watching all of UT's main rivals turn their programs around in a year or maybe two?

Utterly agree easy to become apathetic when this team has been in the College Football abyss for a lfreakin decade.
After 10 years of awful and mediocrity it's logical persons would want microwave results instead of accepting that it will be a growing pains process before the Vols Football team gels fully as a team along with becomes a great team.

Rome was not built in a day.

The status of the current Vol football program reminds me a lot of the 70's. When Majors came back he went 4 -7 his first year in 1977 and 5 -5- 1 his second because the program had been had been left with talent that had not been developed. It takes time for a coach to develop that talent, give this staff some time. How many hours has this staff really had with these guys in live action since the coaches arrived on campus?

What a refreshing thread title, not seen a single one like it in the past decade. This should solve our issues and bring Tennessee back to glory, lets stop the negative post and get back to winning fellas (and ladies)

Isn't it funny how history repeats itself? These same long winded type threads were posted when Lyle first became coach. Look, people are impatient because they want TN football to be relevant again. You can't blame people for their frustrations and a 5 paragraph post on a message board preaching at people to think like you think they should isn't going to accomplish anything....except maybe make YOU feel better.
I don't see why its always such a big deal, the "We Suck" has already been done to death. Those guys think nothing else can be said. "We Suck, stfu / thread ". You are correct about history repeating itself.

Coaching will get better has the players learn the system . Pruitt is driven to win but knows he doesn't have all the ingredients. My expectations are to improve and become competitive. I imagine these freshman will be special by their junior year. That will also mark Pruitts 3rd recruiting class. Then and only then will we become relevant in the media and TO the VOL fans expectations. Head up Vols keep working. GBO

Tennessee's main rivals have more talent than Tennessee and that is why they were able to turn their programs around so quickly. Tennessee wont turn the football program around in a year, two or three years and Tennessee fans who think so are delusional idiots.

Is it negative to expect a 5-7 season based off of the fact that our roster hasn't been developed and our schedule is difficult?

Present! Takes one or two classes tops. Best players are at a program THREE YEARS. I reject your math, your personal attack and YOU!

I see Battered Vol Syndrome is a real thing. What difference does it make if it’s been 10 years or 30 years since we’ve been relevant? It’s a new day with a NC winning ex FB coach AD and a Hall of Fame 5 NC winning DC from THREE different programs as our HC. Night and day difference from the “progressive coaching experiments” forced on us over the past 10 years.

Could Pruitt & Co suck? Of course. But for once all the x-factors are in place and I like our odds. Count me in.

You’re either in all the way or you’re in the way. Your call.

Yawn:rolleyes: It's going to take as long to turn this program around as long as it took Johnny Majors to turn the Tennessee program around there will be no quick rebound.

Honestly what makes you think this team, that went 4-8 last year, was going to win 8 or even 7 games. First time HC using the the players that were on the worst UT team in history, how does that even equal a bowl game?

I don't think it's stupid and i don't think it's realistic to think that the Tennessee program will be turned around in a season or two
That's fine, but its not all that uncommon for a good coach to have it turned around in that time frame. Your username tells me you think we have a good coach.

No one is a "delusional idiot" for thinking its possible. Only a delusional idiot would say such.

I think Coach Pruitt will get the program rolling again in 4-5 seasons

You "think".

It also matters how you define " turned around".

And I don't really care, I just think your comment about others being delusional idiots was stupid. But, at this point, I'd rather just agree with you than discuss it with you.
