The Solution to Our Problems:

Is the installation of the ol’ warhorse, the favorite and first son of Tennessee football, Phil Fulmer, as head coach. His kind is not made for slick veneered board rooms and gland-handing over-proud boosters.

I stopped reading at the assertion that he is “handing” the glands of boosters. I just don’t believe Phil would do that.

Thoroughly entertaining op. Could you use those writing chops of yours and create a thread on how we'll beat fl?
Madam, the only way I forsee such a result is if we have CPF patrolling the sidelines once more, this time with a headset on. It's not that I don't want CJP to succeed, it's just that thus far, he has given us nothing to inspire such conviction. The Georiga State loss still rankles, and may always do so for the Orange faithful. Is it safe to count you as one of the many legions of fans who also yearns for the return of CPF, and the subsequent ascension of Tennessee to the (rocky) mountaintop??

And of course, a grateful nation thanks you and your husband for your family's service.

the solution to our problems is to exchange coaches, and players with Bama.
Fulmer would never coach for Bama. The man is loyal to a fault, and by all accounts is superior to Saban in every measure. The true tragedy was that Fulmer was betrayed by those he trusted, those wolves in volunteer clothing, if you will.

When informed of his unceremonious, and undeserved, dismissal lo those many years ago, he indubitably softly uttered, "Et tu, Tennessee??"
For shame sirs and ladies, for shame indeed.

His kind is not made for slick veneered board rooms and gland-handing over-proud boosters. His ilk is too noble for such vainglorious pursuits. He needs to be in the muck and mire with his men, leading our loyal lads against the barbarous Bulldogs and terrible Tiders. And if the last decade has taught us anything, it is that we can ask for no better general than our much ballyhooed coach, who led us to the most halcyon of heights.

Think about the instant upgrade in coaching we would receive—he has forgotten more than the likes of Kirby Smart will ever know!! This decided schematic advantage would obviously stand us in good stead my dear fellows. And that is to say nothing of the incredible boon his presence would be on the recruiting trail. Do you perchance recall names like Manning, Wilson, and Haynesworth?? All answered the call when CPF darkened their doorstep.
He is the holder of an NC, multiple SEC crowns, and several East banners. Who on the current, or indeed any, staff has accolades that can match those of the Vol Navy’s admiral?? My friends, the answer is as plain as day for those with the eyes to see.

And can you imagine the raucous scene the next time Alabama visits Neyland, if CPF were at the helm?? Fulmer is the panacea that Saban fears, never doubt it. I expect during the pre-game handshake, in an effort to overcompensate for his anxiety, Saban will bluster with false bravado, which will be silenced with nothing but a steely gaze from our head coach, followed by this exchange: “Fate (Saban) whispers to the warrior, ‘You cannot withstand the storm’. The warrior (Fulmer) whispers back, ‘I am the storm’”. At which point, the stadium will erupt, as the fans await the inevitable thrashing of those crimson scoundrels.

I remember when I had my first beer...

Nope just tired of post such as this
And I, my dear fellow, am tired of the group-think that often permeates this board. But most of all, I am tired of losing. And as outlined in the title of this thread, the solution to our woes is within our grasp, we need only reach out and ask.

I don’t think Phil is the solution to problems
Why not Lincoln Riley if you want another coach

Although I thoroughly enjoy your writing, I have to disagree with you. Fulmer loves our program, but I think it's best if he stays ad. He hasn't coached in years. The game isn't like what it was when he was on the sidelines. He's 69yrs old. How many seasons would he last? The controversy over him taking over would be huge. A lot of folks think he meddled his way to becoming hc the first time, and now ad. I don't know if this is true, but putting him on the sidelines again would garnar a tremendous amount of backlash. That wouldn't look good for the program considering we are already a laughing stock.

And what name do you normally post under on this site? I shall have to go back and look at the posts bemoaning the fact that Phil Fulmer is not our coach and narrow the list down a bit I am sure.

It's, uh, "glad-handing". Gland-handing sounds like either a medical term, or something one of the wino's on Cumberland tries to do, publicly.

The solutions to our problem is for the team to kick ass on the field on a consistent basis. They should be able and willing to play anyone at anytime, and I think we may finally be heading in the right direction.
