No theyre about to land a legitimate 5 star who is considered to be better by some than Faizon. The problem isn’t Pavia. The problem is that Lea at this point has a program heading on a different trajectory than Heupel. Heupel gives off the stench of mediocrity while Lea looks like he’s building a winner.

It is being predicted that they are about to flip a 5* quarterback recruit currently committed to Georgia. This is the age of NIL and apparently they have a lot of money.

Maybe, but then thats more on tenn, not necessarily on Vandy. Its going to be really hard to win even 10 games in the SEC. Pavia is one of the best QBs in the game. It took that to have a historic 1st year. Heupels 3rd and 5th years, "bad years", still went 8-4. Vandy is still not an elite school despite doing well.

Im not blaming anyone dude. Some of yall are acting like this is how its going to be from now on and I'm saying they needed the perfect storm to even win 8 games this year and will probably win 8 games next year at most. Tenn has a bad year and still wins 8. Do you think this year was truly a special season for vandy or is it just the beginning of dominating the state?

I don’t give the first damn about Vanderbilt. I’m more concerned about looking like garbage on offense and defense.

The post wasnt about tenn but about vandy. The guy did nothing but prove MY point by pointing out Tenn being bad. He never refuted me by stating things about why vandy was going to keep winning 10 games and be a threat for the playoffs every year. So he was making MY point.

You care about being better than them, right? Then looking at the big picture and understanding they arent suddenly bama coming back to dominate is the entire point. The sky isnt falling. Tenn will beat them next year and more often than not. Thats the entire point.

I’ll put money on Vandy winning more games than Tennessee next year and beating them in Nashville. This isn’t the SEC with 85 scholarships anymore. You have to take advantage of every opportunity or you’ll get beat. Heupel is not a good steward of the blessings he’s been given. Lea IS taking advantage of every opportunity to win.

We NEVER and I emphasize the word NEVER play well against a mobile quarterback. Pavia will be in the Heisman running for sure after today. Clark Lea has put a solid program together, with one caveat... who will replace Pavia? He's a special player, and really makes them go. It'll be interesting to see what Heupel does with the D.

Oh well it’s good to know Vandy will only beat us when they aren’t garbage. Unfortunately, our schedule isn’t solely comprised of Vandy, Mississippi State, and the their ilk. I care about being good. We are not and don’t appear to be trending in the right direction.

Losing to vandy in this fashion is a wake up call (should've already happened) that there are symptoms of a problem. The defense has been inconsistent year-to-year, and at times, game to game (this year). On the other hand the secondary has been consistently bad. Tackling can be non-existent. You can't win in this league or the playoffs with any of these symptoms. And we have proven just that. You can't ignore it, you have to address it.

I don’t know. They might bring in another experienced quarterback from the portal for a year while their 5* gets experience. Like it or not they are a well coached team that plays hard. We have a talented team that often does not appear to be well coached. Vanderbilt dominated our team worse than Georgia, Alabama or Oklahoma and they are far less talented than any of those teams or us.

We need someone Josh can trust completely calling plays.I think this contributes to some of his head scratching decisions late in half/game throughout the year.

That being said, what the program needs are tweaks, not wholesale changes. An assistant or two, perhaps a coordinator, need to be replaced. I don't think elaboration is necessary there. This thing is a work in progress, and we have to remember both where we came from recently (the post-Fulmer dark age) and where we come from historically (a top program in college football). Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater...but definitely get rid of that bathwater though it's friggin nasty.

TL;DR version: Someone needs to be fired, but if you think that someone is Heupel you need to put down the bottle and step back from the ledge.

I have supported JH at every turn but you can't lose to Vandy at home or away. You have better facilities, more money, more fans, top coaches. There are no acceptable excuses.
