The shut down thread

Why would you, it was a GOP Senate that wouldn't send a CR to Obama for signing. Now imagine if Obama said, "F you guys, I'll just declare a national emergency and do it anyway."

You, in particular, would have certainly been in need of inpatient psychiatric treatment.

I suppose the real test of your intellectual honesty is if Trump does this, and circumvents the separation of powers - will you call a spade a spade?

Ludicrous at so many levels.

First, Democrats do care about and support enhancing border security. But the reality is that the number of illegals coming in other than ports of entry is at its lowest in decades. It does not justify the building of a wall which is going to be FAR more expensive than advertised (and you damn well know I'm right about that) and which can be defeated fairly easily.

Instead, Democrats support increasing funding for border security and dealing with immigration issues across the board, from more Border Patrol Agents to more judges to make the system more efficient.

Second, the claim that they want to import millions of new voters is absurd. The number of illegals who would go to the trouble to register to vote and thereby expose themselves to the risk of being discovered is very small. Those that do are going to be law-abiding, working, tax paying contributors to America.

It is true that Hispanics generally are going to be put off as the latent racism they see in the wall proposal and the rhetoric (like this in the Twitter posting) that paints Hispanics as more inclined to commit crime. But that is YOUR fault, not ours. It is the GOP and some of its least savory elements that promote those stereotypes that is to blame for you losing votes.

I'll break it down for you.
How do you feel about your next door neighbors? Hate them? Like them? Completely indifferent?
Do their actions have any impact on your life? Never? Always? Sometimes?
Do your actions have any impact on them? Never? Always? Sometimes?
Are you concerned about their well being and safety?
Would danger to them present any danger to you?
Is having a good relationship with your next door neighbors a positive or a negative?
Would having an adversarial relationship with your neighbors be a positive or a negative?
etc.......

Now extrapolate.
Can you repeat all that again please?

You're wrong on that one. But fine attempt. There have always been portions of collective morality with which I disagree. That doesn't change the fact that it is the collective (societal) morality with which I live.
so you expect me or others to change, but not yourself? sounds like you have an internally based morality you stick to.

But apparently California really isn’t doing what they should be doing in regards to thinning overgrowth in forrests to reduce the fires. They have all these crazy regulations in place that prevent them from doing common sense things.

Not to mention that the left coast crowd likes to blow up dams so the salmon etc can roam free; and, therefore, deprive themselves of water for consumption and for fighting fires. I guess if they want to do things the "natural" way, we certainly shouldn't stand in their way by sending them funds.

I've seen a good bit of the world. I like it and and most of its peoples that I've met. I want my children and grandchildren to see a lot more of it and be a part of it. If everyone starts building walls that might not happen.
same thing could be said of America if we are talking hyperbole. Trump aint nuking places, the rest of the world will still be there. the rest of the world is just fine without us. Just imagine if Trump was a world leader like you say you want. he would then be taking the entire world down HIS path. i doubt that is something you want.

CNN REPORTS A GRISLY SCENE NEAR THE BORDER HOURS AFTER JIM ACOSTA TOOK A SELFIE VIDEO BOASTING OF TRANQUILITY

Mexican authorities discovered five abandoned vehicles and at least 20 bodies at a rural location 56 miles west of McAllen, Texas, Wednesday, CNN reported.

News of the discovery came just hours after CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta reported on the area’s apparent safety and tranquility. (RELATED: Tucker Mocks ‘Renaissance Poet’ Jim Acosta For Border Wall Video)

“We’re not seeing any kind of imminent danger. There are no migrants trying to rush toward this fence here in the McAllen, Texas, area,” Acosta said in a video posted to his Twitter account Thursday. “No sign of the national emergency that [President Donald Trump] has been talking about. As a matter of fact, it’s pretty tranquil down here.”

Acosta posted a follow-up video a couple of hours later to point out that McAllen’s border wall only covered a short distance, and he said that “a lot of the residents we talked to say this is a very safe community and they don’t see migrants coming into their community causing a lot of crime and mayhem.”
Mexican federal police found four burnt-out trucks, a sedan and the bodies, most of them charred, in a rural community near the town of Miguel Aleman, authorities told CNN. The grisly scene appeared to be the result of a battle between rival gangs, Tamaulipas Attorney General Irving Barrios Mojica told Carmen Aristegui, who works for CNN and hosts a radio show in Mexico.
