i don't know, the way they ended the 1st half, with like 3 penalties and a time out or something....was pretty comical.
Florid will be fine. they didn't do anything special...just beat up a bad team. will likely be the same next week.
and i'm sure over the course of the next 12 days, they will have viewed teh Cal and USM tapes more than once and will have the "real" game plan installed.........just in time for the SEC opener...........
Like him or not, Jake always seems to have a way of putting his finger on the right spot. Much the same as hatvol.....
There is an old axiom that most teams make their greatest improvement between their first and second game. If so, the USM game is critical for UT. They have to answer the following questions:
DEFENSE:
- Can the DL generate pressure on the opposing QB, as opposed to their own QB, by virtue of an inability to get the opponent's offense off the field?
- Can we at least get to one sack per game?
- Can the LB's show up, either in run support or blitz packages?
- Can anyone besides Eric Berry make a play in the secondary?
- Can we actually blitz on third and seven, as opposed to a zone look?
- Can we tackle, instead of the "Toreador Flail" that was prevalent in the Cal game?
OFFENSE:
- Can we score from the five, given a 1st and goal situation?
- Can anybody run a slant, and catch the ball?
- Can we figure out a way to consistently convert third and one (or two)?
- Can we give up on trick plays until we master the basics?
- Will 31 points be enough?
Seriously...unless Cal turns out to be a Top 3 team, we could be in a lot of trouble.
