The Runner's thread

Good stuff. I'm closer to 2 months. Always hated running. Now I'm liking it.

Can still shred the pool though! Not much participation in here, but I tried to make a Swimming thread a while back.

Ever do any triathalons? I'm thinkin about starting with a 5k or something and maybe doin some tris eventually.

I haven't done the tri yet because I never was a very strong swimmer but I have done several 5k's and a half marathon.

I've heard triathalons have team events. I could do the swim leg! Now we just need a biker.

Riding a bike is something I am trying to get into but haven't gotten a bike yet to start. I am hoping by the fall I can have a mountain bike and start riding some trails.

Ran 5 this afternoon about one - majorly bad idea. Ended up being around 95 (heat index) by the time I finished and my time was wretched, but I suffered through.

Second 5 miler of the week, but that has been about it this week.

3 mile trail run this morning. 29:34. It wasn't fast but I felt like a champ after the run and its runs like that make me love running.

3 mile run this evening - I forgot to start my stopwatch, but based on my phone's home screen it was right around 30 minutes.

That's 13 miles for the week.

3.5 this afternoon. Started back taking acclerade today and could tell some difference. I am going to continue to take it and see if it can help get me legs to feeling better.

3.7 at 7:34 pace. This was day two of being back on acclerade. I gotta say right now I am a believer because it is working for me. My legs felt better during the run and I seemed to have more energy during the run. Also my legs didn't feel so beat down after I finished.

7.2 total for the week.

Also the wife and I decided today that we are going to train for the battlefield half marathon in November. I am excited because this will be my second half marathon and her first.

so last Saturday I played basketball from 7 - 11:30

I played with the same group of guys today and they were all talking about how sore they were. I love running as much as we do and not hurting from something like this.

I dunno... With all the lateral movement in basketball, it works completely different muscle groups. It still works the calves and quads extensively, but I say you need to play harder next time!

But I still get sore from running, and especially basketball, so maybe I just get extra sore.

I work with a bunch of people who smoke so I love being able to do something and not be out of breath and them all being out of breath like it was something difficult to do.

Full or half court?

I play basketball 3 times a week plus I run. I think not being sore is reasonable for how much I go, but you can always play harder!

I could run 15 miles and not be sore. Play ball for 90 minutes and hurt for 2 days.
