The Runner's thread

Got 9 miles in this morning. Encountered a few snow showers that resulted in wet shoes and socks after the first couple miles, but I pushed onward.

8.33 This morning...strong start for 100 mile march!

I would have joined the 100 mile competition, but it will take me the full month to hit that mark, as I'm sticking to my half training plan right now. Now way I'd keep up with you and Tri.

I thought the point was to make it throughout the month? Are we actually racing to see who gets there first?

Edit: Nevermind, just saw that the first gets all the e-cred. I'm still down though. Gonna be tough. I'm hoping for 20-25ish each week for the two weeks prior to the marathon. Then I'm taking at least five days off. I'll then have to get 25ish more in the last week.

I'll go ahead and join in the 100 mile March if the group will still let me, haha. It should be late March when I hit the 100 miles.

5 months ago I shut myself down due to tendinitis in my achilles. A couple of months ago I set March 1 as my return date. I could start now as the healing finally seems complete but I am sticking to March 1. I have been doing elliptical 45 mins a day, 6 days a week in place of the running. My plan is to change from my previous 6 day a week of runs to 4 days a week running and mix the elliptical in the other two days (with a day of rest). So, for my first run on March 1, I plan to warm up with elliptical for 10 mins, walk about 5 mins, then run about 2 miles. I'll repeat this on the running days each week and increase the running mileage 10% each week. I plan to now always incorporate the 10min elliptical warm-up when available. Does this make sense for a re-start plan? Better ideas are welcome.
Just ran for the first time in 5 months. Walked 1 mile then ran 2.1 miles. Aerobiacally felt good. Thighs felt like I had just done 100 squats. I'll go again on Tuesday should the achilles not show any issues tomorrow.
