The Runner's thread

Headed to Knoxville this weekend. Anyone have any suggestions for a trail run on Saturday morning?

Concord Park off Northshore Drive is nice. 8 miles of smooth trail and its marked pretty well.

Haw Ridge off 162 headed to Oak Ridge is nice too with about 20-30 miles of trail. Its a little more rugged. I was there about a year ago and the interior trails aren't as clearly marked but if you have a good sense of direction you will be okay. Or you can just always turn right at intersections and make a big loop on the lake shore.

Both are beautiful early in the morning with the fog rising off the lake.

:hi: Thanks tri. I knew I could count on you. I will see which one is closest to where we are staying and decided from there.

Haven't run in over a week and I have to go to Nashville for 10 days for work, so I am missing my 1/2 marathon on 3/10.

So bummed and disappointed right now. Gotta start back running this weekend or next week.

You're welcome to come run with me here in nashville

Ran 3.3 Saturday. I learned something Saturday though. I need to work on hills... bad. I had a really good pace going and hit a large hill and it completely killed my pace. So, needless to say this week I will start working on hills.

3.5 miles with two big hills and I was constantly running back and forth to pick up the slower runners of my team. Fun run though. Feels good to be pain free from that charley horse.

on a side note, my Commander is lightning fast.

Did you run trails or road?

It was a paved trail right down the road from my parents condo. Victor Ashe park. I looked into going to Concord but it was 30 mins away from my parents and I didn't have to go there. I am going to try and hit it up next time I go up there because I should have more time.

I don't know if many of you watch Nascar or not but I though this was intresting and it pretains to running so I thought I would share. Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne ran in the Dayton Half Marathon the week before the race. Both drivers finished with times better than an hour and half. I thought that was pretty damn impressive.

4.02 today. My legs were killing me for the first two miles. I'm going to start eating some fruit about two hours before the run and see if that helps.
