The Runner's thread

ran stairs today for PT. My legs are back to full strength and literally ache to run if I take more than 2 days off. Running the stairs today has them loosened up and ready to go. Too bad I have to go work instead. Hopefully I can get a few miles in tonight.

Back to the grind last night after a little over a week off. 3 miles of hilly roads in just over 23 mins. Slower than normal but not bad for first day back.

My upcoming scheduled runs:

October 13th: Spartan Beast - 13+ miles
October 20th: Army 10-miler
October 28th: Tough Mudder - 12+ miles
November 3rd: Savannah Rock n Roll Half Marathon

Should be a fun 4 week stretch

3 miles last night just under 22 mins. Lots of hills but the weather was just about perfect and it was right around sun set so it was a great run all around.

Just finished the 4.4 mile run in Hawaii. Got 3rd in my age category. 8 minute miles exactly. It was uphill the entire way except the last mile.

Uphill is an understatement. It was close to a 700 foot climb

on a side note according to my Nike + app my last mile was the fastest mile I have ran since running. It was a 6 minute 3 second mile

3.25 mile trail run with two others trying to improve their run time. A little over 8 minute miles so still wasn't too bad. Love my Mizuno trail shoes too.

4.25 trail miles tonight. Didn't really time it, but it was somewhere around an 8:10 mile. I was taking it easy and always do much better on morning runs anyway.

PS, y'all better not let this thread die out just because of football season. I feed off y'all posting your runs and times for motivation.

3.1 at in 22:04. Agreed about keeping posts up. Makes me want to get out and run when I see someone that has.

Little over three miles last night. The weather was perfect. About seventy degrees. Led to a great time for not having ran in four days. 21:16

+1. Seeing that I am not the only one out there makes things easier.

It's hard with football season. Gotta get back on it today. Haven't run since last Friday.

I am having a hard time eating right on the weekends. I will do fine through the week but then when Saturday hits I eat like hell and drink beer and it kills everything I did during the week.

I have been doing some major crossfit training/yoga /rip classes with some trail running mixed in but nothing is timed because the distance is only about a half mile at a time and then I will do some cardio later. I think this has helped my shin splints out greatly and I will soon be able to run regularly for the first time in 8 years. I have run about 3 miles in the past week (a ton of non impact cardio) and I don't feel any pain in my shins at all. Can't wait until I can get out of bed and go running in the morning with no worries and I'm just about there.

I think all the sit ups, lunges, squats and very weird stretches has helps align my body and loosen my calves, hips, and feet muscles to allow me to run pain free again. I will have to stay on this regularly but I am looking to break that 20 min 5k in Oct at the Charlotte Runway 5K. I believe Orange Blazer is suppose to run this one as well.

I would love to get into Cross-Fit but I can't really afford the classes right now to get started. I think Cross-Fit would help my running as far as my times go.
