The Runner's thread

Anybody ever used Accerlade? I used it last night and I can tell a difference in the way my legs feel. I am gonna try and use it a couple of times and see if helps my fatigue at all

I used to but switched to cytomax. the protein in accelerade was too heavy for me plus i think cytomax helps cut the lactic acid better, imo. I use Endurox (made by the same company as Accelerade) for my recovery if I exercise longer than a hour. I can tell a huge difference between those and gatorade or water.

5 more miles today. I have no idea how my parents could move from the mountains of E. Tennessee to the middle of nowhere central VA (they now live where the show Moonshiners was filmed) and somehow have way more hills than they did before. A weak 8 minute pace. My legs were tired and the hills just devastated me.

as for sleeves, my calves and legs as a whole are my strong point to my body. If the rest of my body looked like my legs, I'd be impressive. Unfortunately, there's a drastic difference between my upper body and lower body haha. Working on it, but I've always had strong legs and since I started doing crossfit workouts including lots of lunges, climbing exercises and longer distance running, they've only gotten better. I'm 31 years old, typically around 8-10 years older than most of the soldiers in my platoon, yet there are only a couple of them who can outrun me in long distances or recover from leg workouts as quickly as me. So in short, I've never felt the need for them.

I've been using the regular Nike + app and just downloaded the Nike + GPS app and my pace went way down. I think the regular one is not very accurate now

I have the Nike+ GPS sportswatch and it is deadly accurate both on distance and time. Average pace and current pace seem to be fairly accurate as well. Do a run and time it with a separate watch and judge the results.

I got in my car and drove my route and it was 100% accurate. My pace went from around 8:15 per mile on the old app to 9 per mile on GPS

and a question. Anyone run in either the Saucony Kinvaras or the Mirages? Currently I'm running in the Brooks Pure Cadence and they are the best running shoe I've probably ever worn, but it's time to break in a new pair and the Sauconys seem to get slightly better approval ratings. I'm flat footed so I need a wider toebox, but I only ever so slightly pronate when I run.

I run in the Kinvaras. I love them. I have the 2's. They are coming out with the 3's in June. I won't run in anything else

Is endurox strictly for recovery?

I used accerlade last night for the first time before my workout and I noticed that it was pretty heavy on my stomach. I did notice though about thirty mins after my workout that I felt great. Legs this morning felt refreshed again. I am going to try this stuff for a full week of runs and work outs and make a decision then.

I have the Brooks PureFlow and absolutely LOVE them. Best pair of running shoes I've owned (and I've owned A LOT).

Normal and I am a neutral runner so I don't pronate. Though I am slightly pigeon toed.

Thanks for your opinion. Guess I'm going to just have to drive up to Raleigh one weekend and try 'em on. Fayetteville doesn't have any true running stores. You'd thinking being home to Ft Bragg where all we do is run, there'd be at least a couple of stores.

Yeah, I tried those on, but with my need for a little support and the wider toebox thanks to my flat feet, the PureCadence just feels better than the PureFlow. The Sauconys will have to be some kind of remarkable for me not to just buy another pair of Brooks.

Just did 8 miles. Oh my God, I thought I was going to die after the sun came out and was hot.

Yeah, it was definitely warm out today.

Today was my first run since the St. Judes half. I normally take over a week off after a race. I could barely do 5 miles.

Nice LSD yesterday with a little over 7 in 55 minutes. Bringing my total to 30 miles for the week. Then a short detox run today to sweat out all the beers from last night. :)

Endurox is just for recovery. Its a stronger version of Accelerade. You can't go wrong using Accelerade but if you need something lighter during your run go with Cytomax.

I will check into both because I was really wanting something mainly for recovery.

Besides being lighter on your stomach is there a big difference in ingrediants between Accerlade and Cytomax?

What are the advantages of Accelerade/Cytomax/Endurox? All I ever use and have ever felt the need for was Glutamine powder mixed into my water. It works for long distance runs, crossfit and weightlifting workouts.
