The Runner's thread

I ran outside for the first time since high school over the weekend, I'm from the class of 2001. Went to the high school track and did three miles running a lap walking a lap. I have been going to the gym and running on the treadmill but running on the track hurt!! : ) I will have to follow this thread now! LOL! I hope to do a 5K soon and try to run the whole thing. I did one on the treadmill in 38 minutes but walked at 4.5mph some.

Nice Medal Yankee Vol!

You can do the 5k it's just mind over matter and don't get discouraged if you have to walk. Just finishing it is all that matter!!

This is my first post in this thread. I started running back in September, and was pretty steady up until Thanksgiving. The first day I ran I got about 3/4 of a mile before I was completely wiped. Worked up to about 1.75 miles by Thanksgiving. After that, I didn't run again until about the middle of January. I've been running 4 days a week since then though, and I've gone from 250-235lbs. Pace wise, I've lowered my tempo runs from around 10:30 to a 9:00 pace.

As for today, it was my long run day, went 4.2.

Congrats and keep it up. :good!:

if you are wanting to train for a marathon, a training group helps tremendously.
go outing and running 15, 18, 21 miles for a long run leading up to the marathon is next to impossible for me without a training group. i couldnt imagine doing that alone.

i don't like to do more then 4 or 5 miles by myself. but i haven't done a lot of distance running in the past. maybe it comes with time. I love running with groups and meeting people and making friends that way though.

I enjoy running alone because I don't feel like I have to worry about anyone else running with me. Also I go run sometimes to clear my head and I don't feel like you can do that I'd your running with a group

Just bought some yurbuds from the Apple store. They are made for physical activity and are supposed to stay in while running. We shall see

You can do it

I run alone cause my trail running friends are on different schedules. I have run with groups before and liked having having someone slightly faster to chase especially if it was a cute girl.
