The Runner's thread

Trying to decide which ultra to run next year. Should I play it safe and run the Promised Land 50K (30 miles) in April

or go all out for the Mount Mitchell Challege (40 miles) in February

6 on sat, 6 on monday, 9 last night. Thankfully, saturday was in the rain. Last night it was only about 84 degrees, Monday it was still 88 at 7pm when i ran....so hot.

3 miles today. Was overcast as I was walking down to the trail. As soon as I begin the run, out comes the sun. Brutal to say the least.

Just bought it. Hopefully it will be in before my 15K this Saturday. Came down between this and a Garmin GPS watch....let's hope I made the right choice

I have heard that these are great. I am not to thrilled about barefoot though.

I am running 5 miles every other day.

I would suggest a pedometer that counts steps, calories, distance, and time.

If you have a droid or a touch there are free apps that will do all of the above.

This cost a little to much for me but the best measuring device I have found is this one

This part wraps around your arm then you wear a watch that translates the results. The same one they have on the biggest loser.

Who needs a pedometer? Download Sportstracker to your smart phone. It keeps track of your movements via satelitte, time, calories, mph, etc. And it will save your walk or run. Also tells you distance. it's awesome.

I'm running 10 tomorrow night. I'm going to buy a gel belt thing...this heat is killing me. I'm running a 6 mile loop and then a 4 mile loop-I tried to get someone to run the final 4 with me...but no luck.

I use a 20 oz hand held. I sweat like a pig so I drink a lot. Works good for 10 mile runs. Have a 10 oz for shorter distances.

That's a solid time Yankee. I've done Xterra courses. They are tough.

I hesitate to even ask.....but here goes...

Do you switch hands? I think it would throw me off to have it on one side the whole time....I hate to even carry a tshirt.
