Well my post did say rock/metal lol. I get that wasn't the heavy metal scene back in the day and even the newer bands I listed are mostly "metalcore" which by no means would be considered heavy metal or just normal metal these days. Hell Issues has two lead singers one who writes mainstream pop for solo albums and one that can't sing only scream. It's a cool combo IMO. People get very specific about sub-genres though and what is/isn't metal, metalcore, post-hardcore, deathcore, etc.Not much of what you listed was "metal" in my opinion. Start off with OLD Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Mercyful Fate, & Pentagram to get your basics down.
I would definitely say that all the bands I listed were at least a sub-genre of metal except ZZ Top who is more of a hard rock with some different influences.
