Well my post did say rock/metal lol. I get that wasn't the heavy metal scene back in the day and even the newer bands I listed are mostly "metalcore" which by no means would be considered heavy metal or just normal metal these days. Hell Issues has two lead singers one who writes mainstream pop for solo albums and one that can't sing only scream. It's a cool combo IMO. People get very specific about sub-genres though and what is/isn't metal, metalcore, post-hardcore, deathcore, etc.

I would definitely say that all the bands I listed were at least a sub-genre of metal except ZZ Top who is more of a hard rock with some different influences.

As far as Ghost/Ghost BC, I really enjoy their music. Their lyrics are sometimes cringeworthy to me. I get they do the whole "satanic" shtick, and I get they really aren't satanic, but there's a difference in lyrics like Slayer and older bands that were "satanic" or at least perceived that way, and Ghost. Year Zero by Ghost literally starts off by repeating the devil/Beelzebub/etc and ends with "Antichristus" repeating in the background. Not really my cup of tea and not authentic on top of that.

As far as the actually writing of the music, vocals, melodies, drums, guitar, style of music, etc I think it's fantastic. Even the get up they wear is pretty cool. I also might feel weird about going to a concert in which the lead singer claims "you can pretend to worship the devil for an hour" and have those lyrics I mentioned before.

Cirice is probably one of my top 3 songs released this year by any band though. Very cool song and video. Not overly shticky either.

Yeah its a hokey tongue in cheek act..at least I hope it is. I've never taken them serious and always seen them as a quasi-70's/80's rock band with mercyful fate lyrics.

The Amity Affliction is a much better, and heavier, version of them.

Their lyrics aren't that far off and Issues is far heavier at times but also softer at times than TAA. Listen to King of Amarillo or even Sad Ghost, Stingray Affliction, and Love, Sex, Riot ft Fronz from Attila if you like heavier songs. Obviously with Tyler Carter you basically have a pop singer so there's going to be some of that in every song. I love Tyler's voice though so it's cool with me.

Love Amity too. Saw part of their live set earlier this year and Pittsburgh was sick live. Ahren, the clean vocalist/bassist, is also in a rap group that makes me laugh (not in a bad way) with some other semi-famous people and his friends. It's actually pretty good stuff for an Aussie rockstar but is all about hardcore drugs/sex/etc so basically the exact opposite of TAA's music.

Edit: the main difference between the bands though is Issues has a full time DJ that scratches and is a part of every song they do. A lot of newer bands are doing this and not in the older heavy way like Slipknot more in an experimental way like Korn did over the years.

As far as Issues goes, Hooligans is the catchiest song to me. I agree though, the lyrics are kind of eh. Their vocalist does have skill though.

I saw Of Mice and Men mentioned. Listen to the song The Flood if you haven't.

Hooligans is very catchy for sure.

Definitely have. OM&M is probably my favorite newer band. Just overall solid. They are becoming slightly mainstream but I like the new sound too. It's not a huge transition from where they started.

OG Loko is my favorite song by them. Actually wearing an OG Loko shirt right now.

Finally got to listen to the full disturbed album. I think it's a solid album. I agree with vsf that it needed some more solos than it had.

Apparently there is another bonus track called Warning Signs. I'm not sure how you get it but I think you had to preorder their album directly from their website.

Overall a solid album. I think it's better than Asylum and as good as Ten Thousand Fists and Believe but not as good as The Sickness or Indestructible.

I think it's better than Believe. I'm not a huge fan of that album.
