He does seem to take himself a bit too seriously.
I've seen them 3 times as well.
First time was in 2006 and that was their best opening; they had a giant white curtain up and this rotating spotlight behind it and after a while when it came around their shadows were seen, the light went out then it dropped and they went into Guarded.
In 2008 they wheeled him out like Hannibal Lecter and started with Perfect Insanity. It was...hokey.
And then in 2010 they started with Asylum and played the video on a huge jumbotron, and the part where he breaks out of the ambulance he timed it to where he ran on stage like he just busted out. That was funny because I could see him off stage the entire time stretching.
Yep, much better than last week's release.
So far their album is shaping up to be pretty awesome. I love 3 of the 4 songs they've released.
The Vengeful One is my favorite so far. Immortalized is pretty good, but it feels like it's missing something that would make it awesome. Fire it up is alright, but I'm just not into the weed theme. What are you waiting for has a great chorus and solo.
Rating so far from top to bottom in my opinion:
1. The Vengeful One
2. What Are You Waiting For
3. Immortalized
4. Fire it up.
That's how I'd rank them. Immortalized feels like a sequel to Warrior from Asylum, which that song felt like a sequel to Indestructible. That's not a bad thing as I like all 3 songs (and probably like Immortalized better than Warrior), but it's kind of turning into their version of Metallica making Unforgiven songs over and over.
And to me Immortalized was missing a solo. I know they don't like putting a solo in every song and that's cool but that particular song IMHO should have one.
Been on a rock/metal/etc kick lately, always liked it though. Thinking about hitting up a few more shows in the near future most specifically LouderThanLife in Louisville. I'm only 21 (22 in a few weeks) but it's got a great mix of older and younger bands such as ZZ Top, Godsmack, Rob Zombie, Hellyeah as far as older bands and Of Mice and Men, Bring Me The Horizon, We Came as Romans, and Issues as some younger bands.
Already seen a few of the bands there live like Hellyeah and We Came as Romans but it should be fun.
Maybe we can get this thread popping with some discussion.
As far as the Disturbed album I haven't heard it all but it sounds more like what the Disturbed fans like and wanted compared to the last 2 or so albums. In a scene where a lot of Disturbed's contemporaries are falling off or gone (FFDP, System still being on hiatus, Godsmack, etc) this is a refreshing change.
New Ghost album is really good surprisingly..August 21.
I've enjoyed the singles that have been released so far. However I still think a better singer would really elevate that band. The lead singer has no emotion in his voice whatsoever. He's so monotone throughout every song and you've got all this kick ass hard rock/metal playing behind him, yet his voice is always so lifeless and even keel.
the album has better songs than what they have released.
I agree with the singer aspect but I suspect they are aiming for an old school King Diamond/mercyful fate/angel witch type vibe. Their singer can do a myriad of vocal styles. Aka it's the style. Watch em live..

Yeah I want to catch them live. They were here in Chattanooga a few months back and I missed them. I hope they come back again in support of their new album.
yeah I haven't seen em but want too.
Their new album is like I found some of my Uncles old 70's rock/horror movie soundtrack with a modern (and evil) twist.
