Did I LOVE the Black Jerseys with NO names on the back? YES
Did the whole get up with Orange Pants look a lil bit bizarre? YES
Would I like to see how it would look with black pants and orange stripes? YES
Do I want this to be a regular occurence? NO
Would I mind if every couple of years the whole black uni thing happens again for a Halloween and/or special occasion type deal? NO

I liked them!! I don't want us to resort to black and I definitely do not see that happening. It was fun, the players had fun. That's cool with me! GO BIG BL....uhhhhh...ORANGE!!:alien:

Jimmy Hyams is not the only Vol fan offended by the black jerseys. Almost all of the fans over the age of 30 or offended.

I am over 30, and the jerseys didn't offend me. I am not sure I really liked them enough to see them on a regular basis, but CLK said that's what the players wanted, and after all the game is mostly about them..

Alot will not tolerate Kiffin doing what he pleases. Slive has just about had his fill. Obviously Hamilton has no control and is a liar. Some high powered donors will make the difference.

The high powered donors will let CLK do whatever he wants as long as he wins. If he turns around and goes 4-8 next year, there will be a bonfire of black jerseys in Circle Park. As far as Mike Slime goes, WGAF how he feels about things? But in re-reading your post, I am hoping it is in jest.

I just left a store called aluni hall to buy new car flags for the ride up and they saw me in orange and said you did know tonight is a blackout right? I told her my team wears orange, thanks!

Alright, WHERE'S MY CROW?

How many of the against crowd are actually from Knoxville? Most of the ones against the Black unis are over 50 and live in a rural area or one of the small towns. You dinosaurs are the reason alot of people look at UT as a fanbase full of old folks redneck and hillbillies. Id say almost all of the under 50 actual Knoxville residents and UT students loved it. Get over it this isnt 1965 in mayberry. The players and recruits like rap and things like Black unis. Most young people do.

you're right, living in the metropolis of Knoxville makes you more hip and a better fan. I can't believe I moved away and must return asap

ok, must say i dig the black jerseys and dont mind it anytime they wear em. the one point in this arguement i don't understand is how this is somehow a blaspheme against tradition. did we or did we not wear black unis all the way back in the 1920's? how is this not in line with that? i would really like to hear an honest answer to that. it's a background color for crying out loud, everybody that watches any college ball know we are the big orange, i just don't get the beef with some black unis for a change. the students/players are the life of the program after all and they seem to freakin luv it.

Knoxville is no metropolis but i know how these small surrounding counties are. People who live in a city are a million times more foward thinking and open to change. But yes Id say most young adults living in Knoxville or any other small to mid size city are cooler and hipper than some 50 year old redneck.

UT first fielded a team in 1891. The orange and white jerseys were not worn until 1922. I believe they wore black jerseys prior to '22. Can someone confirm this? Not that I care, but maybe if confirmed it will bring some solace to those whose sensibilities were affected.

As long as they were halloween costumes, I liked them. I would not like to see black become a regular uniform color.

I wouldn't mind seeing no names on the back of the orange and white jerseys.

On this occasion I liked them. It was halloween. It gave the team an energy boost.

But on a regular basis I like the orange and white

I think it's pretty safe that this isn't going to happen more than once a year. All the "it fired everyone up" talk aside, common sense tells you it's not like seeing them in black is going to give everyone the same reaction every time. Ask Georgia.

I absolutely loved them...The kids were fired up and the crowd blew up...This is a good thing!:good!:

I was watching the program at the time I posted this... I cannot directly quote from a text as there is none availble to me... however, Jimmy did say that Heather did not go through proper channels and He did, and it was very obvious that He was upset that she did not do as he precieved was correct... unless I have a misunderstanding of the English language and what the word "proper" means.

Although my post may have been incorrect in your point of view , it was very correct by my point of view, I did name my source and at what time I saw it.... I am not a journalist but i am a fan and I posted as correct as possible.

I think Hymans on purpose stated heather did not use PROPER channels... Again I did not post as a News report but from a matter of prespective as you and all others who are on Volnation have and are doing daily

I think a reporter/journalist who's doing their job would do more that just ask an official source who clearly is not going to tell you the answer. Telling it beforehand, or even meekly 'no commenting' would obviously ruin the surprise of the black jerseys and make the whole thing less effective in garnering attention/creating excitement. Apparently Harrington did something more and got rewarded. Complacency like that displayed by Hyam rarely gets anyone very far. He's mad that his lackluster effort wasn't rewarded, but got about what he deserved, based on the effort that he put in. :cray:

When they came out in black, I thought at first I had drank too much Jack Daniels and was seeing things.

This is true. So yes you can say it connects back to the roots, but it also points out we've been the orange and white for almost 90 years. So I'd say that shows which is more traditional. That and there's hardly anyone alive left who actually saw them play in those black jerseys.

I don't mind it for one game a year but any talk of it getting more than that is silly.

Yeah...that's why USC, Texas, Alabama, Florida, Ohio St., LSU, all of them have black jerseys don't they?

Oh wait....they don't. And yet...recruits don't seem to be put off by that do they?

Seriously? So if UT decided to change to crimson and white, you'd be ok with that?

Wow, way to take things way out of context on that one.

Honestly, I could give 2 (craps) about what we run out on the field in as long as it has orange and white on it and we're winning in it. If there's some black in the mix, I honestly don't care. If it's all white, I don't care. If it's all orange I don't care. At least Lane likes the orange pants and we've turned that orange-pants-loss-boat around.

The guy isn't doing away with traditions or anything guys. This is the same coach that wanted to wear home jerseys in the Bama game.

I'll be fine if we never wear the black jerseys again. I'll also laugh and clap if we try it again. I don't care. I like how involved Lane has been with the players and the fan base, and I genuinely enjoy his outlook and willingness to try new things though, and I'll have his back as long as we keep making huge strides.

I can't help but say this that Orange and White is as much tradition as the Crimson and White that my beloved TIDE wears. You don't go against tradition. If you do sneak an added color in, you SNEAK it in there. Those black jerseys were ugly. It might not have been so bad with the white pants but who knows.
