Black is just working out great for Vandy and OUR OPPONENT. Why would we wear the other team's colors? Seriously. I say we go out in paisley and set off purple fireworks and have the team run through the T while "When Doves Cry" by Prince is played throughout the stadium. We'd surely win by 300 in that parade of awesomeness. Afterwards, the team will eat pancakes. Ridiculous... I really would like to see the look on Spurrier's face if we did that though.

First post from a long time reader... I am from South Carolina, born and raised. My mother is from Clinton Tennessee. I was brought up a Clemson fan by my father. Found out quick I didn't like them and switched to the Gamecocks by 10 years old. Pulled for them until 92 when I was up here in Tennessee seeing family on a game day. I saw all the ORANGE and had to get on the wagon. No where I had or have ever been was as electric as Knoxville on game day. All the ORANGE just amazed me as it still does.

I now live in Knoxville with my better half. She is from Virginia and also is a VOL fan. She interned here at UT back in 04 and has been a fan every since. The VOL WALK with the Pride of the Southland Marching Band is enough to get the blood pumping of a dead man. Nothing we have ever seen screams history like seeing a sea of ORANGE in Knoxville on game day... And the best part is it doesn't end in Knoxville. The whole state is ORANGE. When they form the T and Smokey and the team come out on the field it's going to amaze anyone who is watching. You can't help but wish that was the team you are pulling for.

While a change for one game would be OK with me if that's what the players and coaches want I really don't care. I will continue to be a VOL no matter what. It will not be but one game. Hope it pulls in a few more recruits. I just want to see a beating in Knoxville the Gamecocks will not soon forget. If you can't get up for football on Halloween night there is something wrong with you. I haven't slept good for a couple of days and Rocky Top keeps playing in my head. Come 7:45 this evening I will be sitting with 100,000 family members waiting to see my team no matter what color they wear.

This argument just gets so old. I understand both views. But to me, whether its orange, white, black, pink, or polka dotted jerseys, its still UT. Regardless of what color, ill cheer and watch. IF they wear black, that mean you don't want EB rocking Garcias rear end?? No matter what, they are vols, and its great to be a TENNESSEE VOL.

Do you realize the contradiction you just typed? You say Kiffin won't do the copycat thing but then say black would be his idea...no it wouldn't because it's been done about a hundred times now by about about a hundred different other teams. There is not a single shread of originality if UT wore black jerseys.

I am pretty sure the poster meant that the way the black is unveiled would be Kiffin's idea not just the idea of wearing black. It is called a brain. God put it in your head for a reason. Use it.

Great post.:good!:

Please, please, please wear all black - just because I want to see volnation's reaction at this point - it's getting ridiculous.

I just left a store called aluni hall to buy new car flags for the ride up and they saw me in orange and said you did know tonight is a blackout right? I told her my team wears orange, thanks!

I'll put it this way...wearing black jerseys has become a desperate attempt by teams to gather attention. The vast majority of the teams that do it do so because they need the exposure, and it's the equivalent of throwing crap against the wall to see if it sticks. MTSU, Louisville, Maryland, teams like this wear black jerseys and "hype" it as if it's some big event and it's literally done nothing for their program. It's "excitement" lasts about 10 minutes. Even FSU has tried it and the same results.

We are nowhere close to being this desperate for attention. And the notion that our players and fans need the Vols to come out in black to "pump them up" is utterly ridiculous and if THAT is what is needed to "pump them up" then there is something seriously wrong.

Wait--is that another Alshon reference?

I think the tag on the Jersey might have a black label writing on it , Should we boycott the Vols now

If they do anything it will be with the jerseys. They would have announced it early this week if it was a blackout. The ONLY way they pull a blackout in the crowd off is if the give everyone a black Tshirt as they enter the stadium. no other way.

I for one think it would look cool if the stands were orange with black scattered in. I know SC colors are black and garnet but nobody will think anything of it.

Post of the thread, and of the uniform discussion on this board as a whole.

i wonder if there would be an uproar if they lady vols wore a baby blue wit orange jersey since they do have baby blue in their colors? and another thing alot of tennessee apparel, logos, etc. have black isnt that like our alternate color knida like the phi eagles.

I think it would look good if we would wear our traditional orange and let SC wear their black. Keep the black on the other side of the field but still give it the Halloween theme. Also it would show that UT has some class as far as letting the opposing team wear its colors as opposed to the crimson d-bags to our south.
