The QB Debate - post South Carolina (merged)

I really like JG. But I have said that we need to see KC start and play a full game.
Why?

I really don't care which guy plays, but what is the fascination with Chryst getting playing time when we've been through summer practice and 8 games with the coaches obviously thinking the opposite at this point?

KC so much better passer than JG. KC has pocket presence and can get rid of ball downfield.
JG had a great game against Auburn and is tough as nails though.

All the well qualified arm chair quarterbacks across America want to run down Jg. Well, when you start making several million per year coaching football , then, and only then, I would say you are qualified to make your opinion public. Honestly I think Coach Pruitt , who observes practice everyday of the week, has enough sense to determine who is the best qualified to lead our Vols onto the playing field. JG has taken an absolute beating every game , yet he gets back up and continues to do his best. Needless to say this is behind a far inferior offensive line. I say, Thank God for JG and may God keep him healthy. Thanks JG for giving your all for Tennessee !

JG has beat a better team than KC ever has. KC is not a winning SEC qb.
I never said KC was the answer but we really don’t know. I’m a fan of anyone wearing orange but I can’t see JG leading this team out of mediocrity, trust me I’m pulling for the guy. Honestly the most excitement I’ve had this season was watching KC move the ball down the field against Bama. There just seems to be a spark that most QBs give that JG doesn’t.

so u can just win? no accuracy needed? ****, well play the guy who throws the ball all over neyland stadium, except to the wrs then....smmfh
Have you ever seen a QB who could just win... Sometimes ugly, sometimes pretty but just a gamer. I’m sorry but i just don’t see that in JG. Trust me I’m pulling for the guy but accuracy gets you nothing without the wins to back it up, especially when you field the better team in this case(SC).

Im just gonna say it.... Does anyone feel like all this hate, similar to the Dobbs hate, has to do with his race? It feels that way at times.
I can’t think of anything else honestly. JG has played well this season. Perfect? No. But what QB not named Tua has been perfect? I’ll wait.

JG can’t anticipate at all. The guy has to be wide open. He holds the ball too long. He can’t progress through his reads. The OC calls a completely different game with him at QB because of this. Screens and easy throws to his right. Accuracy left is very poor. He checks the ball down way too much.

When Chryst was in vs Bama. He makes quick reads and quick decisions. Same O line. Same receivers. He sees what the defense is giving and knows where to go with the ball. Again. See how many different guys he hit in a few drives vs Bama. Very impressive and that was still their first team D out there.

Jennings and Callaway are very very good receivers. Can get open. Can both win jump balls. Both are great after the catch with good hands.

Actually, he threw it at the feet of his receivers and looked awful against second and third team defenses.

The 2nd and 3rd string bama defense is better than most 1st string in the nation.

And Chryst doesn't get time to play. What if he had previous real play time in say, 4th quarters? Why doesn't JG get them set up so he doesn't have to continue taking a beating 4 quarters every single game? If he's so good we should see our 2nd string QB in the 4th quarter to give JG some rest and avoid him being hit so much.

JG threw for 207. 190 of those yards were after the catch. Somewhere around 20 of the 27 passes were behind or within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. He threw around 4 catchable balls beyond 10 yards. We all saw the Palmer drop.

Jesus man WTF! Why is everything a race issue? I just see Orange and White! I guess people are not allowed to be critical anymore without it being construed as hate.

Exactly! If someone was a racist I don't see how they could root for most any team. I'd guess at least 50% of players are black. So what!? Who cares!? Quit calling people racists just because your beloved QB is a darker skin tone than the back up that others want to see get a chance to start. It has ZERO to do with skin tone and everything to do with wanting to put our best out and win now, not next season, but now.

That being said, I want to see Chryst a bit more, but that's completely irrelevant of his skin tone or looks or religious background or whatever. I still want to see him get more playing time. Next week against Charlotte could be good as it would be a good chance to let JG rest his ribs/body prior to the tougher games. Poor kid needs it and we all know it.

I'm just gonna say it. Does anyone feel like the entry above is one of the dumbest posts they've read all weekend? It sure feels that way to me.

Why do WE NEED to see him play a full game?

He is the Back up. He is the Back up for a reason. Thank the good Lord he is a serviceable Back up. If the coaches thought he could help us win by playing a whole game, he wouldn't be the Back up.

Its hilarious that you think you know more than the coaches. I'm paraphrasing, but I think that's close to what you said about others.

I am saying "we need to see him" to maybe appease some of the fan base. There are many who seem to think KC is better. And what if he was? We havent really seen hin in that much action. He has never started or really had to do anything important. There is always that chance that a HC could be wrong. I do trust the coaches but nothing is ever 100%.

I dont even begin to know more than the coaches. But I would like to see him play a full game. Whats the harm in it?

That's a little different than what I quoted.

Joking aside. I too would like to see him play a full game to settle the argument. But that's silly. We don't don't have the luxury to do that, just to appease the fans.

Jeremy is wagering his reputation , future and a bunch of money on his plan on what he's doing at Tennessee this year, I don't think he's gonna deviate from it unless he has to. (Injury etc).

It's very interesting how some suggest that Pruitt knows exactly who the better QB is. " he's the coach, he see 's then every day yayya"
Then turn around and question his other decisions. A knee, not stopping the clock, onside kicks, not playing Byrd and others, unable to adjust the D to slow down the run against SC. etc....

It's my opinion, and it's just a theory. The two QB's are very close but with different styles. Either one could have brought us to the same situation we are in. 3-5 !
JG is here for the future, he needs to figure the game out, needs the reps and Pruitt is willing to live with him hoping and praying he figures out how to be a winner. Additionally JG has shown he has a fragile ego. I doubt he got over that in one season. People tend to be who they are. Pruitt concerned with a transfer is willing to live with him.
KC is not going anywhere, we all know this, Pruitt knows this. KC has mentioned he wants to go into coaching, chances he'll end up a GA here.
Lastly anyone who doesn't recognize the Offense seems very smooth when KC is in the game, is blind or just do not want to see it.

Why do you think when KC is in the game Pruitt primarily goes to a run game? He doesn't what to run up the score on ETSU :) haha. He's just trying to get the game over with against Bame :) haha.
KC is his ace in his pocket, he's probably trying to may sure there's not a QB controversy on the team. But knows damn well if JG goes down KC can get the job done.

70% completion tonight, 29-37 for 2 TD and 0 turnovers, and half of his 3rd down conversions were after his line false started. Dumb post
20+ caught behind the LOS. 2 incompletions thrown to 2 bubble screen guys wide open and just launched 3 ft over their heads. The one downfield ball was short or it was a TD. Instead, receiver had to wait on it. Yeah he was a stud alright.
