The QB Debate - post South Carolina (merged)

What makes you think a guy that got outplayed by a true freshman where defense is non existent in the pac 12 will cut it in the SEC? Seriously some y’all just have it out for JG admit it and move on.

All this wining about KC not being GIVEN a chance is driving me crazy. The cold hard truth is he had a chance to EARN the starting job before the season started. He couldn't get that job done. Pruitt knows way more about what is going on with the QB's than any of us. If KC was or best chance to win he would be playing, because you can tell Pruitt hates losing as much as any of us.

all these JG complaints must be women....because even after a good performance, that's the only thing ive ever heard that will still find something to whine and complain about

Classy post. I haven’t seen you on here once talking about the QB situation that you weren’t insulting people and acting like a condescending a$$. If you can’t make your case without tearing down anyone who disagrees with you, perhaps your argument is just not very good.

He was a freshman that started a few games.

As well as he didnt play last year he still had more yards in that season than Chryst had ever had. He was still 7 points more accurate than Chryst. Same td/int ratio and had already faced SEC teams.

I don't know why KC would think he would come start over a younger player with more upside and just as good or better numbers.

Do you know what accuracy points, yards and ratios give you... loses in the SEC. I would take a QB that knows how to win minus the “stats and numbers” all day.

I’ll say this and leave it at that. I think JG has played great for what he’s been dealt with (cough cough OL is abysmal) there are times he will not recognize the blitz and that’s where KC has him beat but other then that JG is just physically better than Chryst. Better arm, mobility, better release. His mobility is not great but it’s good enough. I’m not opposed to seeing KC get more snaps but I still think JG gives us the best option to win games. Maybe I’m wrong, but I can’t stand the fixated hatred that some of you guys have it out for the guy. He was not the reason we lost yesterday. The defense did not play well yesterday which was a surprise to me considering the way they have improved throughout the season excluding the Bama game. His 70% completion rate is great and yes some of it is due to the short curl routes as well as check downs but it’s also due to what Helton is calling since he doesn’t have much to work with since our OL doesn’t give him enough time for vertical passing attempts. Thts the way I see it and by no means am I a QB guru but I realize what we are good at and what we fall short of. We’re a couple of elite players on both lines of scrimmage and LBs to compete once again. Until JG craps the bed then I have no issue with him getting first team reps. Pruitt is doing one hell of a job with these team. Prior to the season none of y’all would expected for us to even being within 2 TDS against South Carolina let alone having a should-of been victory. Ever since we beat Auburn we now expect to beat teams in the month of November including me but I’m not shocked when we don’t cuz I also expect growing pains and lessons learned. Sorry for the long post but either get behind this team and staff or root for someone else. We have no other choice. It’s where we are as a program. I know I won’t give up on my team. It’s going to feel awfully good once we get back to where WE should be. Keep faith and Go Vols!

Yes i guess you didn't notice them in 3 and 4 deep cover.. They weren't letting anything get behind them. We had to take what wss given and we did. Defense lost this game.

True. Muschump himself said they were not letting anything deep happen. USCjr specifically schemed to keep any type of deep game we might have stymied.

This is what he looked like on the last play. My point as to why it doesn’t matter if he has 300 yards passing and 10 TD’s in a game, when it matters a veteran QB will not do this. He clearly had green grass in front of him for 15 yards but decided to dance instead of run. It cost us the game folks.

Worse than the happy feet was his squatting. I understand the reason for this on the touchdown throw from inside the 10 but he seemed to do it a lot when it did nothing more than mess up his steps and prevent him from find his receivers.

And my guess is the JG worshipers will have your head for the happy feet comment.

that looks exactly like JG on that last (and many before that ) play 😂😂.
Granted he was hurt , is a tough player , and still gives them the best shot of winning in my opinion. I don’t think that he is much more than an adequate Game manager who occasionally makes nice throw or 2 but again the dancing penguin is spot on

OK if you say so. Defense had nothing to do with it. One play did not cost us the game. Get over it.

So pointing out JG's faults is saying that the D did not share in the loss.

Does JG share any responsibility for the loss?

You JG lovers are so sensitive. You'll get your way though and JG will play out the season and we'll lose 3 more games. But I've come to understand that to the JG worshipers that wins don't matter, just JG.

Ah, guy was hurt and doing his best. I don't think he should have started but knowing he practiced with a rib protector and was noticeably off in practice this week, I'm not giving him any grief for how he played
Noticeably off in practice this week? All I ever heard was his practice all week was fine. If he was off in practice, that begs the question--again--why didn't Chryst start or even play?
