We get it, you're an edgy atheist. It's cute, really. It doesn't change the fact that of the two options (a creator god or a magical earth/universe) one is more reasonable than the other. It's possible you're right and both are wrong. Yet of two incorrect ideas, one can be more absurd than the other.

Option 1: OJ killed his wife
Option 2: the CIA killed her

Both may actually be incorrect, but of the two one is far more absurd.

I'm agnostic, meaning I can recognize that I don't have enough information to know anything. If you aren't, great. But someone from my perspective can see the hilarity in claiming metaphysical high ground when comparing voices in the sky. You are saying creator God vs magical universe as if these concepts are so different from eachother without anything to substantiate either idea.

Nice job comparing this to a court case with actual evidence versus the philosophical argument that is actually is, by the way. Thoughts and prayers

My response to the OP is that I don't agree with the thought police that want to arrest people or even shout down folks with different opinions. Personally if someone asks me to use a different pronoun for them and they've given me no reason to disrespect them I'll do it because I think it's the courteous thing to do, but I don't think anyone should be forced or even pressured to (and by pressured I mean threatened, not argued with on twitter). I think Trans folks should be able to take a joke just like everyone else and not be treated like they have some special protection from comedy.

I do think gender as modernly defined is definitely on a spectrum, but recognize the obvious biological fact that the sexes are different. For that reason I don't really like seeing Trans athletes dominating sports because there are definite advantages to being born a biological male and it is simply not a fair competition. That being said I don't think this has become a huge issue as of yet barring a couple high profile cases, but I recognize it could become a larger problem in the future.

I'm also not clutching my pearls at the very idea of a drag queen reading a book to some kids as long as they aren't exposing themselves or reading some lascivious ****. I think this idea that there is some mass brainwashing going on has particularly been blown up in the media and don't put a lot of merit into it without more actual evidence of bad behavior.

My general motto is to live and let live. A lot of people seem to feel like the Trans movement is being shoved in their faces or forcing them to participate in something they don't believe in, but I have not experienced that.

Thanks for the detailed response. I think we actually agree on most of this. The same way I’ll call people by the name they prefer, the pronouns (as long as they’re normal words I already use she/her, he/him, I even try they/them but it just comes out weird).

I think the issue with “modernly defined” is that they state it as an absolute fact “there’s more than 2 genders!”. If it’s a social construct, you can’t argue that as an absolute. You can say “those in the social sciences and academia, along with a decent portion of the public (idk the %, but would be curious) now see it this way”.

I don’t think you need mass brainwashing to achieve influence. I imagine we would both agree that any gay man (historically it’s more male to female) probably feels “different” than their peers and could be susceptible to the influence and praise they’ll receive from peers. And if we know anything about young kids, it’s that they’re impressionable.

Honeslty, I’d be willing to compromise on gun reform here with the left. Make the age to purchase and/or carry 21. In return, make it the same for being able to transition medically and for being able to vote. “If you cared about the kids, you’d do it!”

I have experienced that at work. In both healthcare and education. From the small, movements to include pronouns in emails, to the much more concerning “treat” underage children

We should all be American, human, the race part of it is what keeps us divided.

I’m not saying that a person shouldn’t be proud of their heritage.

We’re all born, we bleed the same red blood and we all have a certain amount of years on this earth until we die. Sometimes it may be cut short. Life

I don't really care one way or the other if:

1) Trans always competes up in athletics.

2) They put a good faith effort to present how they want. Yelling at a clerk in the store for using the wrong pronouns when you appear quite clearly as something else isn't cool.

3) Refrain from grooming. Allow kids to have a normal childhood. There is plenty of time to learn about this when they are no longer a child.

4) Stick to two pronouns. I might be able to be talked into zhe for neutrality (although that might take a couple more years). Just stop with the they/them's. Those are plural in modern English.

I don’t do pronouns. I just say “hey, you”. Covers everybody and no hurt feelings. I don’t have enough brain cells left to dance around between ze, zi, za, them, they, zippity doo da day.

This is going to be a long term fight if you want that to stop. They want trans life to be seen as normal. The way to do that is get young children used to the idea at a young age and even question their own self.

There is no other reason to have a trans person in drag doing story time reading to a bunch of 1st graders.
