The Play I Loved

I don't know if anyone remembers it but there was on play that I loved in the game Saturday.

After the game was well in hand J. Crompton came into the game and ran one series of plays. It was a three and out but on the 3rd down play I saw something I haven't seen all year. (Remember I didn't see the Ark. State game, and saw limited Southern Miss game)

In the play a Tennessee WR came in motion to the right the ball was snapped and handed off to said WR in motion. The tackle and the guard from the left side of the line pulled towards the right and led block for the WR. The play might have went for a yard, maybe.

The result wasn't anything special but I just really liked the play and could see it doing big things if we can put Coker/ Hardesty in the place of the WR in motion.

Anyone remember this play? Thoughts?

I know the play you're talking about. I liked the scheme on that one, but by that point in the game, it was pretty obvious that if a guy looked like he might have the ball, he did. Not hard to stop a run that you know is a run. I think a play like that could hold some promise though.

I just want to see it with 1st team O, in the middle of a game. The play is totally out of Tennessee's M.O. when it comes to offensive plays. Much like the Taylor pass I think it would leave the D going, "What the hell was that?" , if executed correctly, but in theory that's why all offensive plays are created, isn't it?

The miss direction pitch out it could be run in several ways and with the right people getting the ball could be a super weapon.

I, too, liked trhe mis-direction. Lord knows, we have seen it run against us several times...

There's a compilation of plays on YouTube by "TubeSox". I'm not saying that one is in the highlights.

With the Vols speed I have no idea why ''trick'' plays aren't run more often. It'd be a great way to spread out the d without a spread offense...then our backs could average over 4.0 per carry between the tackles.

i liked the Coker(i believe it was) smash run at the beginning of the game. only a couple of yards, but it WOW'd me pretty good:eek:hmy:

Mine was the 1st play of the 2nd quarter. Even caught the announcers off guard. :td:

Mine was the one where we lined up with 2 FBs (Brown and Cooper) and they both ran up into the line ( Brown actually jumped over) and then they pitched it to Foster going the other way. That was a great play.

Here's another favorite play of mine. Any and I mean any swarm tackling play on the D was a favorite of mine. My hats off to the D for playing with pride.

You could really hear the hitting going on.

I liked the mis-direction pitch and the blocked punt the best.

The reverse pass to start the second quarter was a genius call....just, genius. :thumbsup:

That was one of my favorites too. Brown sold the play perfect.

My favorite play was the screen play Georgia ran that got stuffed by a host of Vols and Bolden came in to finish it off with an open field tackle that our DB's and LB's hadn't even been making in the first four games. Good thing our DB's and LB's were making those tackles as well Saturday.

My favorite was when we motioned the tailback out of the backfield and then ran a simple fade down the sideline for about 30 yards. There was nothing athletic about the play, we just flat out schemed them right into a big play.

Although it came at a time when the game was already lost for the Dogs, I thought Wes Brown's special teams tackle on Mikey Henderson was pretty impressive. He had to fight off a blocker and tackle a really elusive guy simultaneously. If Wes didn't make that play, Mikey might have made a really big gain. Instead, Georgia had to begin the drive from inside the ten, I believe.
