Not the point. VN is a wonderful place for ideas and debate. This garbage cheapens it. I guess if the only way you can contribute a thread is to insult and make ignorant comments, it says more about the person than the subject at hand.

Depends on one's perspective. U.T. and SEC football are passionate subjects, and PF had/has become a lightning rod for criticism because of his lack of success, measured by those who don't like the distinct drift downward during this century, under PF tutelage. It will always be that way, thanks to PF's career, especially late career.

But do you actually agree with the personal attacks? Being passionate is one thing, but this.....

No, and yes. No, attacking someone, Fulmer, with crude jokes about his weight might be over the top a bit, but it is humorous at times the way it is expressed, and PF contributed to it with his obvious lack of self-control over his physique. So, in that regard he has only himself to blame over the "fat" jokes. Yes, on attacking him over his record and his continual feeble excuses and defense of that poor record, the continual, "we should have won another title or game or two, if only this play or that play hadn't happened." And his ego for personal accomplishment, breaking Neyland's record, etc., makes him a prime candidate for criticism, now and in the future, imho, biting criticism in fact. That is the passion.

So you are saying if an individual has a personal issue that sets him apart from the "average" person, they are fair game? I have read the word "retard" "fat ass" and on and on. How can it be right. I get wins and losses, but I have known the type all my life ( and I am old). They run in packs. Insult without mercy and laugh about it all day long. Makes them feel big. I love the passion of VN when it is done with class. I find it wanting sometimes.

No, I am saying that PF contributed to the "fat" jokes by his own negligence over his physique. The "retarded" and other personal assaults obviously aren't kosher. But that said, it goes back to the passion feeling, imo. But, strong criticism over PF's coaching, inconsistent recruiting success, lack of player self-discipline, lack of success this century, etc. is fully justified. PF's huge ego also makes him a bigger flashpoint. That criticism will abate over time in all likelihood, at least from the level it is at now.

I think it has only gotten worse. "Passion" is no excuse for ignorant remarks. However; point taken about the coaching issues you pointed to. And trust me my friend it will not abate.

You have never read on VN anyone who has made a personal attack on someone who is retarded.

Being obese is not a "personal issue" and actually in the u.s. a physically fit person is not the average. Obesity is a choice and a lack of self control.

Phil lost control of his program in the same manner he lost control of his weight, complacency. Fans were screaming it for years before he was fired. Pat Washington has no business in the sec nor did jimmy ray Stephens, nor did several other of his assisstants.

Phil is ripped on his weight because it relates to the football program. Everyone else could see it getting out of control except him because of his incredible arrogance.

I bet you're fat too.

Making fun of Fulmer for being fat is lame.

PF's size is indicative of a certain lifestyle, because in his case it hasn't been announced that it is medically related. So, rightly or wrongly, when he fell off the acceptable results map, his size was just another point of ridicule.

He's sitting around eating, acting in movies, and making money pretty much doing nothing. He's living the life and you all sit down in your mothers houses and insult him. Sounds like you all are jealous, I mean he does get whatever he wants.

Hey, kudos to him. No one here is likely jealous, some Fulmerites "ARE" emotionally wounded though. PF robbed the bank and got away with it, legally through contractual law, but that is just the cost of doing business. Thankfully, he is gone.

As usual you are wrong. You bragged about your great "retard" jokes along with your fat jokes and I can not count the number of times the term "short bus" has been used.

I guess it is just me, so I am signing off. Take care.

Does it look like he wants/needs one? He's well set. Life is good for him, no job, no worries, just a lot of money and more on the way.

He's been trying to get another job since the day UT fired him. No one wants him.
