The Path to Success

My dear fellows, lo these past few years, while the vols have vagabonded through the CFB landscape, careening from one disastrous misstep to another in Falstaff-ian fashion, the loyal few have endured. Harken, for I have glad tidings for you, a balm to soothe your hurts. The solution to your woes presents itself....for to thrive in the future, the past, perforce, becomes the present:

Supplant CJP with CPF (coach Phillip Fulmer)

Who better to strike fear into the hearts of the hated tide and braggadocios bulldogs, than the first son of Tennessee football??!! Who better to vanquish the foes of the vol navy than the programs ballyhooed admiral??!! He has emerged from the mists of time, shrouded in the glories of yesteryear, ready to renew the springs of Tennessean success and avenge us upon our rivals. My friends, we need only reach out and take the succor at hand, and all will be well.

Let us rise together, and with full hearts and voices, return CPF to his rightful role!!

This is how I imagine it looks when you cross VN.com with Lord of the Rings Online.

Football RPG.

Heh.

To address your point, OP, no. Phillip's coaching days are behind him. He's our AD now. This particular river will never flow backward.

Go Vols!

The vowels are around .350 in SEC play for the last 13-14 years
Enough said?

So the game had passed him by 12 years ago... but he's all caught up now?
I take umbrage with the assertion that the game passed him by!! If he had as supportive an AD as he has himself proven to be, and the resources needed to compete at the highest levels, then we would be at the halcyon heights of our golden age, as once we were when the laudable CPF was managing Vol fortunes.
The trophy cabinet is bursting at the seams from the baubles he has bestowed upon us!!

And what a tragedy that is, kind sir. That we have discarded the wisdom of experience for the flash of youth. Tell me true, who amongst his successors has come close to replicating his success: was it the beleaguered Dooley, the out-of-his-depth Butch, the iniquitous Kiffin, or the over-matched Pruitt?? None are fit to walk in his shadow, all have been found wanting.

That we are served such shambolic coaching displays each Saturday is truly unfortunate. But perhaps it is what we deserve, for turning our backs on the loyalest Vol that ever bled on Neyland field.

For those who clamored for his ouster, as Maximus Decimus Meridius once exclaimed, "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!?!"

You have a right to be wrong. When he was in trouble that last year, he proudly proclaimed, "We've won a lot of games around here doing what we're doing and we're not going to change now". He said that in spite of getting his tail handed to him in recruiting. He said that in spite of very obviously not keeping up with Meyer or Saban in the X's and O's.

He didn't even keep up on team discipline. Tolerance for coaches going down to the jail and winking at the Sheriff had passed. He didn't change so we were treated to a steady stream of arrests, failed drug tests, and disqualified players.

It is easy to romanticize the guy because of the success he and Cut had. But the reality is that he didn't keep up and only truly had success when Cut was around to run the O and provide some team discipline.

CPF is prodigious, not only in his generosity and warmth of spirit, but also in the voluminous trophies that stock the vol cabinets. How many East titles, let alone SEC rings or national crowns have we won since he was so unceremoniously ousted by that most contemptible of foes, Mike Hamilton? Hamilton did what what neither Georgia nor Alabama could do, vanquish CPF from the sidelines which he dominated lo these many years. And many of you stood by and watched with nary an outcry from your lips. For shame sirs and ladies, for shame indeed.

Who is this that hath joined us on the 28th day of October, in the year of our lord 2020?
Hark, is that you sire, King Phillip?
Or is it just some theatrical student you hired to bestow you with praise?

He is too much an every-man to name himself king, but once he ruled the lands of Tuscaloosa and Athens with an iron fist. No one was happier the day that Hamilton plunged his dagger into CPF's back than saban and richt. For they knew then what we know now: he was their superior in everyway. Rocky Top lost her greatest defender that day, and the vol faithful have been paying for the sins of the vocal malcontents ever since.

Except for lack of a healthy sprinkling of
“I say I say “ I could almost swear by the verbiage used that the OP is none other than Foghorn Leghorn.

Who better to recruit a top flight QB, than that offensive-savant, CPF????
Perhaps you are familiar with the works of Peyton Manning and Tee Martin--you'll never guess who recruited them ;)

Lol. Tee Martin was no top flight QB. Pruitt has recruited 2 top flight QBs. Bailey and Salter. And we are in great shape for another couple in Ty Simpson or Sam Horn.

You think Saban, Smart or Mullen are afraid of Fulmer? Lol.
