The Overthrows (Game Film)

Give me the guy that can't run but can make all the throws and doesn't turn it over. Easy.
So far his TD to INT ratio is 2:1 in college and those 2 INTs are in only 68 attempts. Both were in 1 game but he also only had 1 good game and that was Vanderbilt. We couldn’t score in the other games as we didn’t even hit 20 points. Maybe that’s on Pruitt, maybe it’s something else, or maybe Bailey isn’t nearly as good as you think he is. Regardless, you certainly can’t say he doesn’t turn it over.

I fear CJH feels he needs a mobile QB. I’d love to see Bailey but he must start Hooker next week over Milton (which seems more likely than Bailey). Based off the past two games it appears this offense likes to start extremely fast and does catch teams off guard. If we had an adequate QB, we’d have been up 21-0 with ease and that changes the dynamics and play calling for Pitt.
At the end of the day, as much as I want Bailey in, this game was winnable with Hooker at QB. That being the case, this loss 100% falls on the coaches for playing the wrong player(s).
If CJH starts Milton on Saturday I’m going to get that sinking feeling in my stomach that we have a long-term problem —- again.

His INTs are inflated because he didn't get thrown into games until we were already down several scores. I think both of those INTs were essentially desperation throws.

Play Milton he over throws
Put in Hooker he turns it over
Put in Bailey he can't run
You forgot "Fire Heupel". It's just amazing that fans can't see how tied his hands are with the QB position. Without that, we're just a boat with a dead motor drifting aimlessly. It's almost to the point of just rotating QBs every couple of series and see if one of them is hot that day.

it looked like a lot of the receivers were open when Milton was overthrowing them.
Bright side is that he was recognizing the open man and targeting him. Wish I could say it's just a matter of timing and he'll get it, but while he didn't have the spring, he had all summer to work with the WR and develop that "timing". Not sure what the answer is, but it appears we simply have replaced JG with his Michigan clone. And if he's in his last year, the best thing for the program is to focus the reps on the guys who will be in that room again next year.

There is also got to be more to Bailey’s issues than just pocket mobility. There’s a lot of stuff pre-snap that has to be set up and then recognized defensively in just a few seconds. Then post -snap you have the mobility issues that come into the play as the routes develop. All of this happens before the pass happens. Throw in OL snafus and there’s a good chance he never gets to the part he’s best at, which is making the throw.

Well to be fair Peyton had an offensive line to protect him and receivers to get open. This team doesn't have the same quality of guys.

Excuse not justified (on this sample).

Manning and Bailey would have had the same amount of time (as Milton) to release these 7 pass call plays:

:03, :03, :03, :04, :03, :03.

What more do you want from Milton's OL ?

Here's to hoping JH plays Bailey this Saturday.

So, what is it in Practice that JH is seeing from Milton VS this sample (of game time) ??

Edit: Bailey is on interview, explaining how "simple" this JH Offense is (he's likely referring to pass plays such as this Sample).

Edit: JH's qb in 2020 was averaging 450 +/- passing yards (and, where is Milton, to this point) ?

A lot of those were egregious. That 5th one is insane. No one is near Tillman. No defenders coming for Milton. It's like playing backyard football and he still misses him by a mile!

I just don't see how you can coach that. It's like taking a guy who shoots 5% from the 3-point line and trying to teach him to be Steph Curry, just because he's 7 foot tall.
7 footers generally aren't 3 PT shooters

Well, maybe make him spend everyday countiing to 3 and throwing deep to a reciever till he gets it down? 100 throws a day after practice?

Yes but the WR'S must get open. Our WR'S seem to have problems beating man coverage.
That could be true, I haven’t really looked specifically at the receivers enough to know if it’s them not getting open or the QB’s just not seeing them and getting them the ball.
I’m pretty sure it’s the latter sometimes, but both could be a problem

You can't fix that. Dude can't control his emotions or has zero depth perception.

Maybe he needs LASIK surgery like Jameis Winston had 🤣
Was reading some of the fans comments on reddit and they were talking about his LASIK and one Bucs fan said you're telling me all he needed was LASIK for that type of performance hahahah
