Easy to say now, not half way through his first season at Bama. Especially with his recent seasons in Miami. Several coaches have been run off with a national title.

I'm sure they pulled it off in practice. Now it's on tape of what they couldn't do / should have done in the game --

Pruitt ought to put those exact same 5 players in the exact same position THIS week vs GA and see how they respond.

The kick itself was well executed. What makes my head explode is seeing 4 Vols stand there with their thumb up their azz watching the gator catch the ball.

I agree there's a problem with some players on this team that I've never seen at UT and I've been following them for a very long time. I do think some of them are being better conditioned and starting to appear stronger. They are undisciplined and they are selfish. One poster stated that the many times JG was put on the ground not once would a lineman extend a hand to help him up. That's a common courtesy in life in general much less a fact in the NFL where you don't mess with a teams QB or words and fists will get exchanged. I suggest that the player who didn't execute on the onside kick was selfish wanting to look good by getting the ball instead of doing as instructed. JP and all coaches as well as us fans are going to have to be very patient with these guys who are robbing us and our school. Some of them aren't here to play football.....just beating the system. Sad, very sad, to say that.

As you can see, every player around the ball is watching the ball. Someone, not sure which one, is supposed to be blocking the 1 guy from UF around the ball. If that 1 guy does his job and blocks him instead of trying to go up and get the ball and be a hero, its UT ball and we probably even return that one a few yards, if not for a TD.

Great call, 1 player not doing what he was supposed to do ruined it. Players. Have. To. Execute.

There are many more instances of poor execution in this game.

Thought the call was great. It was unexpected and showed me that they(the coaches) were trying to win the game. Poor execution cannot always be blamed on the coach... or the boss ..... or the parent. Kids and a lot of adults need to realize there are consequences for what you do or fail to do.

It's 4 on 1, there is no way the FL player should've been able to catch that ball and hold on to it. One of the Vols should've blocked him back and then nothing but orange surrounding the ball. This is to me signaled how crappy these guys are. They literally can't win a 4 on 1 advantage.

I gave you a like because you hit the nail on the head. Our players with exception of trey Smith couldn't start for the majority of SEC teams.

22 should have been flat on his back watching us recover the kick. 4 on 1? Someone lays a legal, clean hit on the one and now 3 guys have a shot at the ball. Football 101.

Great call, bad execution. That is coachable.

That was my takeaway as well. Anyone that remembers the kick we recovered against Bama when Kiffin was coach remembers we laid out (I think Juilo Jones) on the kick. They should have done the same to the one UF player there.

Those saying this was a bad call are crazy IMO. I watxhed the Raiders game the next day, and Janikowski, who has been in the NFL for 18 years, had to step aside and let the rookie who is being groomed to replace him kick the onside kick because he has NEVER successfully done it in 18 years. It is VERY hard to kick the top of a football and have it travel 10 yards and then hop directly up in the air. Very, very few kickers can do it consistently. Pruitt saw that we have a kicker who can apparently do this consistently, caught the gators off guard without their "hands" team on the field, had a chance to steal a posession with us down by 14 points....and we had 4 guys run to the ball and then stand there and watch a gator catch it. Pruitt had assigned a player to block the gator, it is perfectly legal to make contact after 10 yards...and the Vol decided to watch football instead of playing it.

That is not on Pruitt. He made a great call.

Kicking the whiteboard like a sissy on national TV? That was stupid. If youre gonna kick something, kick the sheet out of it. Dont halfass it.

Disagree. Bad call. True it was ALMOST executed correctly and we had the numbers. But close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Here's why it's a bad call. It is a low percentage play even with good numbers and execution.
Low percentage plays should only been used when the reward is worth the risk.
