I think it’s becoming clearer to me why I was always more impressed and convinced by witness expressed in sleeves-up service to others than by preach-ers (as in not specifically someone with the title of Preacher, but someone who goes around preaching at you). 😃

It’s Shabbat y’all
That means sabbath for you heatherns.

@Danl should go fish. @Orangeredblooded and @MercyPercy should go too. @joevol33 can watch. @Behr can judge us for not catching better fish while attending to his peppers. @VolNExile can lead the gardeners. Y’all know who you are. @NorCalVol67 should be on a paddle board somewhere. @volwindy should go hiking. The red women and I are hiking today as well….

I could go on but the point is…..this is the day that the lord has made. Rejoice and be glad in it. What that really means is Saturday is a gift from G-d. Take the day and enjoy time with your family, your friends or just by yourself. Work and worry will be there tomorrow. You can pick it back up then.

Right back atcha, Slice. Y'all be safe out there and have some fun. Post the pics.

Nope I see nothing biblical to support the idea that throwing beer on the ground will produce more beer. You should probably just drink it.

C.S. Lewis "The Full Treatment "

I find a good many people have been bothered by what I said in the previous chapter about Our Lord’s words, ‘Be ye perfect’…. I think He meant ‘The only help I will give is help to become perfect. You may want something less: but I will give you nothing less.’
Let me explain. When I was a child I often had toothache, and I knew that if I went to my mother she would give me something which would deaden the pain for that night and let me get to sleep. But I did not go to my mother—at least, not till the pain became very bad. And the reason I did not go was this. I did not doubt she would give me the aspirin; but I knew she would also do something else. I knew she would take me to the dentist next morning. I could not get what I wanted out of her without getting something more, which I did not want. I wanted immediate relief from pain: but I could not get it without having my teeth set permanently right. And I knew those dentists: I knew they started fiddling about with all sorts of other teeth which had not yet begun to ache. They would not let sleeping dogs lie, if you gave them an inch they took an ell.
Now, if I may put it that way, Our Lord is like the dentists. If you give Him an inch, He will take an ell. Dozens of people go to Him to be cured of some one particular sin which they are ashamed of (like masturbation or physical cowardice) or which is obviously spoiling daily life (like bad temper or drunkenness). Well, He will cure it all right: but He will not stop there. That may be all you asked; but if once you call Him in, He will give you the full treatment.
That is why He warned people to ‘count the cost’ before becoming Christians. ‘Make no mistake,’ He says, ‘if you let me, I will make you perfect. The moment you put yourself in My hands, that is what you are in for. Nothing less, or other, than that. You have free will, and if you choose, you can push Me away. But if you do not push Me away, understand that I am going to see this job through. Whatever suffering it may cost you in your earthly life, whatever inconceivable purification it may cost you after death, whatever it costs Me, I will never rest, nor let you rest, until you are literally perfect— until my Father can say without reservation that He is well pleased with you, as He said He was well pleased with me. This I can do and will do. But I will not do anything less.’

Hebrews 9:27And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Now the second part of this verse is what really has me concerned. The only way to be ready for it the following verse will reveal.

28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

So I plead with you today sinner friend to look unto Jesus Christ for salvation!! Look and live!!!

It’s just not that simple.

Messiah said

A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, or a poor tree good fruit.

19Any tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown in the fire!

20So you will recognize them by their fruit.

21 "Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord!' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, only those who do what my Father in heaven wants.

22 On that Day, most will say to me, `Lord, Lord! Didn't we prophesy in your name? Didn't we expel demons in your name? Didn't we perform many miracles in your name?'

23 Then I will tell them to their faces, `I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness!'

It will be better for you on the day of judgment if you serve G-d and believe what Messiah taught than say some magic words and and think you have a get out of hell free card.

oh, a reminder…..there’s no eternal torture for the damned. Only death, the final judgment

just saying

Put me under an oak tree.
There’s a choice of meadow, woods, or streamside!

Under an oak sounds good, maybe some English bluebells above. Although I’ve had to garden around enough tree roots that I kind of hate to put someone else through that.

I will die in battle; that I am certain of. But I hope to die in a battle of my choosing. But if it is to be this one, do not bury me in our sad little cemetery. Burn me, and cast my ashes to a strong eastern wind.
