The official UT vs UCLA game thread

Everyone may not want to admit it, but Fulmer has been trying to reincarnate the next Peyton Manning through every pocket passer we have had since Peyton. We need an athletic quarterback who isn't afriad to tuck the ball and run if he needs to. Last, we need another coach. If no one has noticed, the ol' timers (Bowden, Fulmer, Paterno) have lost touch with the advances in football.

These are all wasted electrons.......Mike H. has guaranteed Fulmer will be here for a very long time...and so will we...forking over the dough....We are Tennessee...whether we like it or not....Hamilton has said as much in print......

Still, I will forever be a TN fan....one day without Mike H. and Fulmer, maybe...I am only 40 so perhaps by the time I die I will see a change.... until then.

It's great to be a TN Volunteer!

Now does everyone understand why Ainge was starting last year when everyone was crying about how Cromptons should have been starting???
Not really. Ainge sucked and now Crompton sucks. Sucking is sucking. Pull him, like Ainge should have been pulled. Play for the future and hope against hope that somehow we recruited a decent QB in the last six years.

It has finally become painfully embarrassing to be a VOL fan.

I've defended Phil for the last time. He has to go or we're f-ed.

Folks, you can save your breath on the"fire Phil" philosophy. Hamilton just gave him a raise and an extension. They can't afford to fire him. Won't happen.

Can I start the new thread? Ok, here goes...let me see if I remember the Kool-Aid Kamp....ok like wow alright imagine this...we have a great practice and like go like 11-1 from here winning them all on out and like win the NC and like Wow look how great it is....so ok now let's all get behind the team and the coaches and like wow really cheer for them ok? That's what all true TN fans will do? Like right?

As long as people mindlessly continue supporting this staff and administration by sending them your money, you are absolutely correct. The only vote we have as Vol fans is with our wallet. One average joe's contribution can't equal Phil's donor buddies contribution, but if we protest in mass, then maybe we can get their attention.

i wouldnt count us as completely horrible just yet. i know its bad but look at the whole picture. The offense and QB r both new and UCLA had a pretty stout Defense. Our Defense looked good up until the end of the game and the play calling was what really made them look bad. Hopefully the offense will find their rhythm and begin to click against UAB and we can go into the game against florida with a legit shot.

I was thinking after Bama whipped Clemsux how dumb the admin staff looked for signing him(Tommy Bowden) to a long term contract.....but now how dumb does Tennessee look?

This was a coaching loss, pure and simple. Put the ball in Foster's and Hardesty's hands and we win. No matter how good Crompton may eventually be, to ask him to carry/pass the ball 80% of the time in his first start is stupid when we have a great o line and two great backs.

If we run the ball, we win by 3 touchdowns. We have the players. The coaches lost this one.

How the he!! do we lose this game? Too many things to list. But lets try: overthrown passes, underthrown passes, missed passes, fumble, missed field goals, penalties, ineligible man downfield not called, touchdowns that aren't touchdowns, safty not called, poor play selection, receivers wide open in second half. There is more but I am sick and ready to sleep. Those things are enough to make anyone sick.

GO VOLS

UT needs to quit scheduling these tough out of conference games in California and start playing easy creampuffs like UF and UGA, where blowout wins are guaranteed.

Can't put it in his hands...JC should have not thrown it more than 20 times tonight. Run the ball and protect your QB

With out offense, nothing will be "guaranteed" this year. This new offense doesn't suit Crompton and his skills at all.

As I've said for a long time, empty seats in Neyland Stadium is the only thing that's going to force change.

In no particular order:

Hamilton needs to be smacked. And then taken to court, and fired.

I humbly submit that the time for decorum, politeness, Southern patience, etc. etc. with Phillip Fulmer, has come and gone, and the man needs to be run out of town on a rail. NOW. No more politeness: boycott the games, pull your donations to the school, raise holy hell until he is gone, because he obviously doesn't give a damn about the program and is on such an ego trip that he can't see how incompetent he's become and what he's done to a once-great football program. I'm all for giving the benefit of the doubt, acknowledging that players play the games and not the coaches, etc., but we are hands-down the worst-coached team in 1-A that fields anywhere near this level of talent. I played one year of Pop Warner and I know that if you leave a receiver a ten-yard cushion when he only needs eight to get a first down, he's probably going to get the first down. In Pop Warner, if the quarterback threw the ball into the ground, they took him out and put in someone else. In Pop Warner, they taught us to actually block the opposing players on a punt so they can't block it and score a touchdown. We had two top-five recruiting classes on the field tonight, and were beaten by a team that hasn't had a top-twenty class in a while, with a third-string quarterback.

How is it that Congress isn't investigating the officiating in major sports? I've been following college and professional sports since I was a tike (a long damn time), and it seems that just in the last three years that glaringly, unbelievably blatant bad calls that just happen to change the outcome of a game are starting to happen with alarming regularity, to the point that it's become discouraging...There were more than a couple such calls tonight, and just the no-call on the illegal screen, had it been called, might have been the difference in the game.

But, lest it was lost in the wandering nature of my post, the most salient and pressing point of this message is: FIRE FULMER. NOW.

I've been a faithful, rabid Vol fan for over thirty years, and rarely miss a game for any reason; I've missed only two in the last five years. I will watch no more Vol football as long as this man is head coach. I encourage every sane person who reads this to do likewise.

This year is no different tha any of the past. SUBPAR recruiting! Subpar players! And Subpar coaching! As long as the money rolls in to the program the ole boy network will keep rolling along. If people stop spending their money Mike H. and phil will be replaced. When will we get the balls that Florida and Bama grew when they said enough and went out and got real coaches!

Tempo and Sense of Urgency. Never seen it tonight. I saw a team that was over confident.
Thought UCLA was going to roll over because of the "T" on the helmet and Tenn plays in the SEC.

Bingo. We have a large portion of the fanbase who are going to defend the incompetent, pious, Bible thumping imbecile. Tonight proved he's garbage. However, many refuse to see.

Don't forget a bunch of former Vols who felt the need to prolong our misery by writing a cheezy tear jerking letter to the public and the AD. If they ever try any crap like this again, we should remove their names from the Volunteer history books. If Fulmer finds a way to win all 11 games left and a BCS or NC game, it will be because he got lucky and the players found a way to do it by themselves. You have to call a spade a spade when you see one and Fulmer or shall I say Foolmer, is a has been, washed up, gutless, stubborn, and non innovating coach. He will never change and we will never get any better until he goes. Whenever we kept trying to kick 90 yard fieldgoals instead of going for it on fourth down or pinning them deep with the punt, I knew it would come back to bite us. After all the terrible coaching that we endured tonight, I thought we had it won whenever we scored with a couple of minutes left. "Newsflash to Chavis" What on earth keeps telling you that a mustang type prevent defense will keep opponents from driving down the field on you??????? The word stubborn doesn't give justice to what Chavis is. Besides being the laziest recruiter in the country, Chavis hasn't a clue how to make any adjustments whatsoever. He and the rest of the clowns that we have for coaches insured that the University of Tennessee was thoroughly embarassed on national television and put Neuheisel and Chow in the front for coaches of the year. These guys are the best at taking a talented team on the road in a season opener and losing to a much inferior team that has less talent and injuries widespread. They consistently make backup or third string QB's look like all-americans. On top of that, they lead Tennessee as the one team that single handedly keeps the " Is the PAC-10 or SEC the better conference" talk going. If our team would put the inferior PAC-10 team away then they would be surely labeled as a one team conference with 9 impersonators. I've never been more embarassed by these coaches than I am tonight because everyone in the country watched a team that was beaten by Notre Dame last year outplay our Vols. It was very obvious that our coaches had no clue and their vanilla style scheming was way overpowered by Chow and Neuheisel. I bet if Fulmer coached UCLA and Neuheisel coached UT, we would have won this game by 30 or 40 points. How in the hell do you refuse to get your hottest and best runningback the ball when it is painfully obvious that he is much more suited to move the ball for you. Fulmer works just like a UNION. Foster has the seniority so he is going to get most of the carries no matter what, end of story. Sometimes I feel like we will have to have back to back to back losing seasons before this clown is asked to leave. Why do we feel that we owe Fulmer a lifetime contract. CFB is like a business. You cut off what isn't productive and hold every aspect of the business accountable each and every year. For some reason, the AD and whoever else applies, deems it necessary to give this guy more money and a longer contract because he wins 8 games a year. Why have the standards and goals been lowered for our program? If you don't think that they have then you should look at the trend over the past 10 years. It's very obvious for an average person to see. No, that 10 year stretch that we call the 90's was not too good to be true. It is crucial that we go get a coach that can get us back to those standards and change the complexion of the program or next years recruiting class will start mysteriously looking like last years class. Do you guys realize that we are one of two teams in our twelve team conference that lost this weekend. Even Vandy got a W to start things off. Quit putting up with this mediocre coach and start demanding excellence in our program or we will start looking like the Notre Dame of late. Goodnight!!!!

Stand behind a team all the time. We made a lot of mistakes. Weed those mistakes out and go get the rest of the sec. All these so called vol fans on here jumping all over the team and coaches. Just be a fan and support The Tennessee Volunteers. Good and bad.
