The official UT vs UCLA game thread

i am truly at a loss for words. i didn't think we could start out worse than we did in week 1 of the 2005 season as far as expectations go. i was waay wrong.

You can't win games when you fumble at the 5. You can't win games when your kicker cannot hit from the corners. You cannot win games when your QB holds onto the ball too long and refuses to at least scramble. This offense has issues that need to be addressed quickly if we have any hope of salvaging this season.

Tennessee doesn't deserve respect in the national media because of royal cockup jobs like this on the national stage. We are a joke in their eyes because we are a joke. It's time to admit it. We lost to a 3rd string quarterback on a .500 team from last year.

I dont deny that we didnt finish this game like we should have. but the missed "illegal man downfield" penalty toward the end of regulation was extremely crucial. not to mention the safety that i felt we should have had. Did anyone else kind of feel like we got screwed? Either way we should have dominated this team though.

Theres not point in freaking out over this. We have got to be smart, if we do this after every game our health is going to be awful. We are in for a long long long year of lots of L's and some big time blowouts. Maybe Ainge was better than we thought?

Maybe it's not Ainge, or Chavis, or Foster, or Clawson, or Crompton, or Sanders, or Cutcliffe. Maybe it's Fulmer. Just a thought.

We will finish the season with wins against Vandy and Kentucky (hopefully) and the fools that support Fulmer will forget all about the way we played the rest of the year.

How can you coach major college football and have a team so ill prepared for a game? If J Crompton is the QB we are in for a long season. I am not saying we have a better option on the sideline, but he looked awful. And, I don't want to hear about the last drive.. UCLA was in their "mustang" package.

By the way, we had a safety lined up on the back end line for the last UCLA TD pass. What kind of defense was that by Big Boy Chavis?

Glad someone finally figured out that Ainge was a quality qb. He took way too much abuse, just like Casey Clausen did. We are spoiled having excellent qb's for the last two decades. Welcome to college football without one.

People aren't capable of putting 2 and 2 together to come to the logical conclusion that no matter what players or assistants change over the years, we still see the same product on the field.

I think we will struggle to even beat those two, we looked about on the same level as Louisville tonight.

I have trouble seeing this team winning 8 games.
UCLA is not an SEC caliber with their 1st team QB.

Looks like 05 again, losing to Fl, GA, Alabama, and Auburn.
SC will probably be the game that gives UT a losing season.
Just so disappointed right now.

Ever screwed up playing Xbox and called a prevent on a goal line situation. That's what Chavis did.

I've been somewhat neutral on the whole Phillip Fulmer thing, but he has got to go. This was catastrophic for the program. What an embarrassment. How in the hell did they shred the best part of our team in our secondary with their sub-par offense?

Sorry guys, there are no excuses. UCLA was a 6-7 team that returned 9 starters, then lost some of them, plus played a 3rd string QB and 2nd string RB, had 4 INTs in the first half, and we were running the football on them (their biggest strength was rush D, and we beat it).

We travelled across country last year, so this wasn't anything new.

The team was not prepared and we have some horrible horrible coaching.

OUr DB coach blows ballzzz
what da hell is up with the 10 yard cushions we give WR's..

no otha team does it..
it drives me nuts

WorsE part is i'am not going to sleep and i don't think this team is worth losing sleep over. Bring on will muschamp and rid us of the over the hill and game has passed me by gang.

well I said if we didnt win by 20, it would be a long season... time for a really really really long season... when does basketball start?

Yet AGAIN I am sending emails to Hamilton, Fulmer and Chavis. How can we be this bad? How can we continue to slide from mediocre to awful??? This is so unbelievably frustrating.

I've not been much on the whole the coach is the fault... We get a new OC and new players and its the same freaking crap.... Fulmer needs to be fired or told to quit. I don't care if UT has to pay him 20 mil to leave this is pathetic to lose to this UCLA team. If something doesn't change by Wednesday we will lose 5 games this year... That's including this loss... I'm sick of it and I don't think we need to support this crap. I'm tired of mediocre. Talke we made a SECc game appearance all you want.. Crompton sucks and so does the coaching.

Folks, we are in serious trouble. I don't think Crompton has what it takes to be a starter in the SEC. He can't complete a pass. He short hopped so many passes tonight I lost count. The offensive line was also owned tonight by UCLA. It's going to be a long year for us. The SEC teams are going to eat our lunch. Not going to be fun listening to sports talk in the morning. :(
