The official UT vs UCLA game thread

Another I'll be damned!!!!! So now we'll be rated 110, if we continue to play like this against fl, ga, al and anybody else, espn will hate us even more than than do now........ I am sick over this...

Handing out grades:
-defensive backfield waay overrated, shredded in the 2nd half by a 3rd string QB: D+
-Clawson's offensive scheme: D-
-Crompton is not an SEC-caliber quarterback: D
-Hardesty is my starter at tailback: B-
-defensive front, lone bright spot, but only one sack: B

well blame who you will, but our junior all american q.b. was just plain awfull.bad decisions and worst passes will get you beat by dam near anybody, and trust me thats who we lost to tonight......................................now i have to go puke.

To get beat like that is ridiculous. We just got outcoached again. Thats pitiful to let a third string qb look like joe montana. At least fire chavis i'd feel better.

This game was an absolute carbon-copy of three or four games last year, except that Vols pulled lucky wins out of the arse then and it didn't happen in this game. The offense sux--can't make first downs, and then the D--great all game--starts to break down and makes a QB who was a joke in the first half into a winner in the second. Classic UT football over the last 10 years--a first-rate cockup. Foster lost it, mind you. The Vols score there, go up by 14, they win. But Mr. Joke-job coughs it up--again--and the Vols screw it up.

What was amazing about this game was how Clawson's play-calling seemed an absolute copy of Cut: Just like Cut, Clawson has Crompton standing in the pocket too long all night, trying to throw mid-range passes that he couldn't complete; the execution was not there, and when the execution is not there, you try different things, except that they didn't until there were four minutes left in the game. You can't try to complete a 20 yard pass every time you're in a passing situation. Look at what chow did in the second half with Craft--he didn't hold onto the ball, he didn't try to throw 25 yards downfield; he managed his qb perfectly. Then, with the lead late, the kicker gives ucla the ball on their 30 with a lame KO, and the D can't come through when it has to.

It IS embarrassing to lose this game to a team with so many injuries on offense. I disagree with Blackledge about the amount of pressure Crompton was under: He had time enough to complete passes most of the time, but just didn't. He should have scrambled more, too--geez, louise. Craft ran the ball more than Crompton--and he can't run. When you need first downs, and can't complete passes, tuck and run, buddy!! Look at teams that win--most of them do that, starting with the gators. A classic Fulmer performance.

Theres not point in freaking out over this. We have got to be smart, if we do this after every game our health is going to be awful. We are in for a long long long year of lots of L's and some big time blowouts. Maybe Ainge was better than we thought?

Soooooo....I guess THIS was why no one in the media was talking about us, or giving this team any respect. Now I get it.

Oh c'mon...where's the Kool-Aid? The magic is the same as the NC year...the chemistry...the team.....c'mon...it ain't over yet! Think of the motivation we have now.....
