The Official UT Nike Jersey Release Day Thread, 12:00pm ET, UTSports.com

I'm 21 and don't like the gray to black alts. And the checkerboard helmet. I've just got a gut feeling that we are on the road to being the next Oregon with designs and color.

Nah, the Nike founders are Oregon guys and dump money into their program like crazy. I think they'll stay more basic and sleek here.

I didn't see any mountains on the helmet and I am so glad. I thought that would have looked rather hokey. I told you guys it was just a reflection.

We're no different than other teams. A few years ago UGA wore alternates that looked awful. Their mix of chrome, black, and red just didn't look right

We can all tell who the blue hairs are....

"The Alternates are boring..
I don't like the gray...
I don't like the checkerboards..."

Not a blue hair and I dont like checkerboards on the uniforms. It looks walmart cheap to me, thankfully it was minimized. By the way, not everyone has to agree, and thats okay.

Not a fan of the fading checkerboard motif...looks gimmicky. Will try to get used to the gray. And, what happened to the hallmark numbers on the shoulders...a longtime Tennessee feature?

As to your blue hair comment:
1) Yours will get blue sometime also. Might keep that in mind.
2) Remember that us blue hairs pay for much of this stuff.

not a fan. I was excited about the change, couldn't wait to see it and it looks terrible. I hope we go all solid colors because the mixing of the orange and white didn't look good. The orange jerseys were blah, the white ones looked alright except for the orange at the neck being too big. the type font on the numbers is terrible. on the greys I hate the darker shoulder pads. looks incredibly dumb.

love the helmets though.

Because of an alternate jersey? Serious question, because you come across as really up tight.

What can I say, I like the traditional looks. Introducing new colors and the checkerboard just seems like it's pushing for new ideas.

Let me say I do like the home uniform though. It's got enough tradition for me. With just a touch of jazz

The black and gray looks great. Adidas sucks so bad. The new gear looks awesome too. Gonna spend A lot of money over the next few weeks.

Nike hit an absolute home run with this today. The uniforms all look amazing and from what I could see, visually every single uniform was an upgrade from Adidas. They nailed the orange, the uniforms stayed traditional with just a slight bit of added flair. Just an absolute fantastic job by Nike all the way around here. My only complaint is that there was no orange jersey for baseball but overall, A++ on this reveal and the designs of these uniforms.

Also, for those who haven't looked, the new Nike fan apparel is FIRE. It looks fantastic.

Don't have all day to read through 35 pages of posts. Seems like in my skimming the reaction is mixed. But let's be clear. If the athletes like the new designs (which it seems pretty clear that they do) then that is what is most important. In a day and age when recruiting is as important (or even more important) than X's and O's, any edge can make a difference. And let's be honest, we can have all the traditional VOL gear we want, but if we aren't winning it won't sell. When we win the gear sells. Here is to continued progress toward the bright future of Tennessee athletics and a long partnership with the leader in athletic apparel. GBO!!!

Really interested to see who it'll be....my first thought is Georgia as well. However, I wonder, since both Florida and Bama, our 2 biggest rivals are road games this year, if we don't just pull em out vs Oklahoma and keep the "traditional" unis reserved for traditional SEC opponents.

Not thrilled with checkerboard on the helmet strip. Didn't mind it as much on the pants.

The two toned gray looked better on stage than the demo images leaked last night.

Over all I give thing a 'meh...' Thankful they didn't go overboard.

Agree about pushing. In my mind, the top programs don's spend so much time on the fashion runway (excepting Oregon). For example, Alabama (fairly successful) won't even take the numbers off the helmets. Vanderbilt on the other hand changes their unis every two years.
