The Official Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt Game Thread, 4:00 PM ET, SEC Network

So Hulu doesn't have alt...

Really becoming disenchanted with this new world setup. Hulu blows btw. I've missed 3 TN bball games this year because they're not on TV at all or espn only shows on the app. Guess I'll find something else to do with my time and catch the boxscore. We're the Romans
Agreed hulu sucks. FYI hulu is raising their price $10 a month effective December 18.

We won...It's bad weather game. Not exactly a good game for passing. We ran it down their throats and our defense stifled them. It was clear they were not going to score much. Be happy. Geez... Also, you think we couldn't beat some of the teams that are...I'm sure we could beat 10 of them at least, doesn't mean much when you don't play in the SEC.

You'd have a point if we'd scored more than 30 vs a FBS team since Georgia Tech in game one of 2017. I'm at a loss for why they seemingly can't or choose not to score. You almost have to try and not do it vs really bad teams like Vandy.

Better get used to it with Pruitt. Whenever we go up 2 scores he's gonna get conservative, up 3 scores in the 2nd half and you can bet he's going to get ultra conservative.

Like it or not, that's smart football. There's no reason to risk a big play that could flip momentum. BTW, we built the lead by running the ball which is exactly what we continued to do; it just wasn't as productive later in the game.

As in good ones? Are you impressed? Admittedly a win is always good, but this one didn’t earn any style points as many on here predicted it would.

Yes, good ones.
I’m impressed by a lot of things. Tennessee football is in good hands. From the AD to the GAs.
Who cares? We weren’t getting into the playoff and weren’t moving in the bowl projections.

This has been a good day. Vols beat Vandy, Bama loses, and the basketball Vols win. Plus I got to attend the game today (first game I’ve been to since I was a student).
Same thoughts. Attended with my son and stayed to very end. After 2nd rain delay, we moved to seats directly behind Vol bench and 3-4 rows up. Saw lots of players up close and my son just missed a high five with JJ on his way to locker room.

Friend of mine just spoke with Gray after the game, said he was thankful for the win but was really down!

Late in the 4th when we were up 3 scores I wanted Pruitt to bench JG and try to open up the passing with BM. It was 50/50 wanting JG & Calloway to get into the end zone as much as it was wanting to run up the score on account of general hatred for Vandy.

I really don't get all the critique and criticism that we didn't look good or this wasn't a good win though.

Make no mistake. This was a good ol' fashion a$s whooping we put on Vandy.

On our first three drives we had
2 rushes for 7 yards
0-7 passing with an INT
Not a single 1st Down

So our 4th possession with our QB wildly inaccurate we commit to & establish the run. E. Gray catches fire, breaks off a 54yrd TD run, and we absolutely dominate the game from then on.

Vandy never did stop our running game.
When you can start out a game with an almost 4/1 pass/rush ratio, switch gears when the other team stops you from passing down field, and rush for almost 300yrds; That's just domination. Even against Vandy.

18 players were credited with at least a solo tackle, several others were credited with assists.

OL/DL controlled the line of scrimmage.

I suspect many hoped for this - but if that led to quick 3 and outs or interceptions with quick Vandy scores, then it would be "why did he forsake the running game that was working?". Truth is the passing wasn't working - and I suspect the wet field and playing conditions contributed to some of that. Sometimes the conditions just scream "run the football". And that was working so no need to panic and change it just to be up 4 or 5 scores.
