Tennessee has lost its last two season-openers, falling at Xavier in 2013 before coming up short in a neutral-site clash vs. VCU last season.

Rick Barnes has led his teams to 13 consecutive wins in season-openers/home-openers.

UT's average attendance in home-openers at TBA is 17,010. Attendance for last year's home-opener vs. Texas Southern was 13,236 (Nov. 20, 2014).

The Bulldogs are entering their third season under head coach Nick McDevitt. McDevitt succeeded long-time Asheville head coach Eddie Biedenbach (whom McDevitt both played and coached under).

Asheville downed Division II Brevard 76-64 in the Bulldogs' lone exhibition contest Saturday.

The Bulldogs enter the season with nine of their 15 players either freshmen or sophomores.

Last season, Asheville finished 15-16 overall and 10-8 in Big South Conference action.

The Bulldogs boast an experienced frontcourt, which features seniors John Cannon and Sam Hughes (6.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg) as well as juniors Giacomo Zilli (5.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg) and Will Weeks (4.5 ppg, 4.5 rag).

Returners David Robertson (10.7 ppg, 2.7 apg) and Kevin Vannatta (7.6 ppg, .389 3FG) are expected to be key contributors in the backcourt.

UNC Asheville's schedule includes games at SEC schools Tennessee and Texas A&M, as well as a trip to Washington, D.C. to face Georgetown. The Bulldogs also are playing in the Great Alaska Shootout.

Coach McDevitt was a four-year letterman for the Bulldogs from 1997 through 2001, playing for the head coach he eventually succeeded, Eddie Biedenbach.

McDevitt coached the Tennessee Travelers 17-Under AAU team in 2001.

Snap a two-game losing streak for the Vols in season-openers.

Give the Vols a 27-2 record in home openers at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Extend UT's home-opening win streak to 24 games, dating to 1992.

Snap a four-game home losing streak for Tennessee, dating to last season's Texas A&M game.

Kinda weird for me, looking forward more for the BasketVols opener than the FootVols game against NorthTX. Good stuff thanks Yank.

Yeah, I hate not being able DVR it but maybe we can get a replay online or TV. I will follow the score on my phone but can't watch it because I don't want to be that guy on his phone at a 7yr old bday party. Looking forward to seeing how much this team can overachieve. I know they won't finish 12th in the SEC but can they get to 8th???possible. Go Big Orange!

You got a feeling one way or the other on the AAholes decision?

Supposedly everyone knows what is being questioned and has it narrowed down to a singular amateurism issue, Tennessee knowing what it is they feel good about getting it cleared up. They're working to provide the NCAA with the proper documentation needed, they feel like once that's done it'll be pretty easy, we'll see.
