CM blew the play call. Not only do you take the ball out of the hot hand (McRae), but you also take away our best offensive rebounder (Stokes). It should have been McRae taking it to the hole and Stokes crashing the boards just like we did to get back in the game.
CM is just not a good close game coach . He is a blowout coach or bust.
The whole "we lost because our coach sucks" bs has ran its course. The team played hard till the very end and surpassed my expectations. Tip your hats to Michigan and stop bashing the team and staff, damn. It's like a bunch of monkeys throwing poop at one another in here.
Stop with the class lectures, again. It's obvious what you're doing.
Uhm, the ball went out of bounds.
Michigan recovered the ball....Had they not called the foul, UM would have had the ball...I'm not knocking Martin--except for this CRUCIAL play, which was UBER-STUPID. Stokes was 12-14 feet from the basket! You don't throw it to your center 12-14 feet from the basket with 10 seconds to go in the game.
I just watched the replay and all the other Vols seemed to be watching Stokes. I'm pissed about the play and the call. It is almost unheard of NOT to throw it to one of your quick, ball-handling play-makers in that situation. Martin lost him mind on that play--that's how stupid it was. And let's not forget--they doubled stokes and knocked the ball away. Had their been no call, Stokes might simply have lost the ball. At best he would have had to recover and go get the ball, leaving him with the ball with maybe 5 second remaining about 17 feet from basket.
The only question is whether you make that call with the game on the line and late in the game or let the players decide it. I've seen much weaker charges called.

Charlie said he's a better college player than he was.McRae was not cutting or moving--he was looking at Stokes. If Stokes were six feet or closer to the basket when he got it, yes, throwing it to him would have made sense. But he was not close to the basket.
RE Stokes: He needs to continue to work on his game away from the basket if he wants to succeed in the NBA. He could rebound in the NBA, but not score--he's a tweener. He would not be able to operate close to the basket like he does now, IMO.
If there hadn't been terrible calls throughout the game those refs might get a break. Watching players get slapped in the face and shoved off the block and over the end line gave them little room for error
