The Official Tennessee vs. Bowling Green Game Thread, 8:00 PM ET, SEC Network

Does this offense not require completing passes and throwing the ball?
This offense will require more qb mobility. All qbs are required to complete passes. Even those under coaches like Paul Johnson that run the triple option. However, there are different styles of offense. HB is a more prototypical NFL style pocket passer. This offense isn’t built around pocket passers. If you don’t understand those nuances…study a little football. I trust Heupel to put in the qb that he thinks will run his offense best regardless of who I want in. Btw, I’m in Marietta, GA right down the street from where HB played. I want him to succeed and ball out. At the same time I’m going to trust our coaches to put our team in the best position to win.

I don't normally like to do this and be the board monitor, but this is the first game after the awful offseason. I think the incessant complaining is ridiculous. We lost a lot in the offseason. The program was embarrassed with the 3-7 season and the cheating scandel.

I'm just going to enjoy this win and be happy for the program. It's been a long offseason. I think we'll see drastic improvement but this is a 6-6 type team.

6-6 is the ceiling, I'm afraid.....

And I'm not sure JM3 is going to be the architect of that.......

Milton throws a long TD and his detractors STILL complain about it, lol.

3 TDs for Milton today.

I’m no fan-boy of any QB, but the constant hate this guy has gotten for one game (and the love-fest for a 3rd stringer) is really bizarre and makes me want to see Milton as starter until it’s TRULY demonstrated he’s not starter material.

Bailey had all Spring to win the job and is behind 2 transfer QBs. We don’t have a large enough sample on which to judge either Milton or Hooker as “not the answer,” yet the guy with the most experience with this team is 3rd. That should tell us something.

11-23 with essentially a 40 yard Hail Mary isn’t exactly something to look forward to.

Game over! Total yards: UT 471 BG 229
TDS UT 4 BG 0
Pass Yds UT 12/24 145 BG 25/37 187
Rush Yds UT 326 BG 32
TOs UT 0 BG 0

Final Score: UT 38 BG 6

A win is a win

11/23 against bowling green. That’s Tebow nfl like numbers

That TD would have been an INT against a halfway decent team.

So, hypotheticals of such things are valid?

If Bailey had played tonight, he would have thrown more INTs.

See how that’s played, right? It’s an abstract scenario you can never know the truth of in reality. Thus, it’s purposeless.

Other than 2 goaline qb designed runs where was that mobility? Hell there wasn’t any mobility needed with all day to throw the ball.

No but we did well running the ball. Passing plays are ineffective when you have an inaccurate qb. Might as well throw in your accurate passer and leave the running plays to your rb’s.
Our QB was ineffective huh? How many balls did receivers drop tonight? Send Danny White your resume and tell him you can fix things.

We thought we were a throwing tram that could run BUT we are a running team that can throw the ball.
Oline played well. dline played well . LBs played well. DBs were ok Theo Jackson played great at the star. Milton did not have a clue after the first 10 mins. WRs. dropped a couple but they seemed to be a bit to hard from Milton for short passes. We need to make a lot of progress by next week or it will be a long year, again.

If you can predict an entire season from 1 game an have seen no other teams play then you must be loaded lmfao

I’m not saying Milton is great but I saw 3 dropped passes that should’ve been caught for another 40 yards and two of them killed drives.

Our defense lacks pressure on the QB.

I'd love to hear from all those people who swore up and down that Milton's sub-50% completion percentage from last year meant nothing. Since he threw tonight for 47%. Against Bowling Green.
My feeling is that you should assume things are typical until proven otherwise. Not expecting milton to become joe burrow out of the blue after this. Didn’t see more than two or three throws into tight coverage today but they only threw a handful of times so i’m going to give it a bit of pass for now
