The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

What did Robinson in IMO in order:

1. Wilson draft pick
2. Brown Trade
3. Dupree signing
4. Julio trade (although I still like the idea)
5. Caleb Farley pick
6. Cunningham contract

So you think she agreed to this and then fired him in part for this?

Seems obvious JRob failed to keep one of the best players in franchise history and lost his job because of that. And this destroys the “Titans don’t want to pay wrs because of our playing style” argument

????

That’s fair. I can see the confusion there. I think she was aware. I don’t think it was her idea or what she thought was best at the time. I think it was more of “well it’s your job, but if it fails, it’s on you”.

Either way we 100% know the coaching staff opposed it. Vrabel has been very open in his opposition to the move

If Amy was notified I think it went like this.

1) JRob updated her on the contract negotiations status and likely advised if he did not think he could make the right deal he may be forced to move him leading up to draft.

2) I'm sure Amy asked what the plan was and he likely gave her his options, the main was getting something in return while he could and drafting his replacement by committee through the draft

3) JRob made the call, brought in a solid free agent wr that fit the offense. He drafted two receivers, one of which didn't really fit the offense and what we ask and Burks who does. Neither of whom have been able to contribute consistently.

4) The offensive line was left as is with a couple of seasoned vets and a couple of developmental players slated to start in hopes they develop as the year goes on. Brought in a mediocre guy for depth and left the rest of the line dangerously thin with practice squad level players in reserve to back up the starters. Lewan goes out first game and the worst case scenario is realized in the first half of our first game.

I won't list all the reasons but JRob left this team a losing hand with his management of the roster. We have no receivers to throw to outside of woods, everyone else is always injured it seems. We can't run the ball or protect our QB because we don't have the guys needed on the line. He gave contracts to players that he shouldn't have and let go of players that were pivotal on offense without replacing their production.

I'm curious to see what we do to give us cap room for movement in getting the roster figured out. I think Lewan is a no brainer, Cunningham too. Do you move on from Tannehill or Henry to save some money? Some tough decisions to give us room to strengthen the team. Going to be difficult.

I think Henry and build around Willis.

You saying keep Henry and get rid of Tannehill or get rid of Tannehill and Henry?

Also, I don't think you let Tannehill go and give the reigns to Willis unless you have faith in him....... And everything they've done in games with him under center tells me they don't have much confidence in him throwing the ball. If that's the case bring in a bridge at discount until you know Willis is or isn't the guy.

Those statements say a lot. Seems to be like Amy is demanding more, I think Vrabel is going to be forced to make some tough calls on his staff after the season.

It's not a popular approach because we as fans get invested in the players, but I would start looking to deal away any asset of value to stockpile draft picks and make room for FA moves. There are a few I would want to keep with franchise tag or by other means. If i could get tons of value from Henry, I'd hand him his walking papers. The offense needs a complete overhaul from the lines on out. Henry is of little value to us as we rebuild. By the time our O line is NFL caliber in a few years, Henry will be long in the tooth.

Trade Henry.... Draft some recievers, start building the offense for Willis in a couple years.

I can't disagree with any of this and I'm leaning toward this being the best path as well

I think you need to determine if Willis is the guy. But do you keep Tannehill or do you bring in a bridge? I think it's fairly obvious they aren't near comfortable with him running an offense yet.

Whether you believe it or not the narrative that is being pushed is Amy did not discuss this with Vrabel at all before the announcement.

And Vrabel had to answer all the JRob questions today. If it was truly her decision then she should have been there.

She doesn't get in front of cameras, this was a regular press engagement. She talks in public maybe once a year. But I do think she should in this instance.

Let Tanny's contract run out. Use that time to get the roster where you want it, and let Willis learn.

She must of had a Bud Adams moment. Budmentia. You just know Vrabel is going start looking for another head coaching Jon after the season is over. You can' t trust this franchise.

If so, that's encouraging to me. I think they need to look at every position group, support staff, and S&C. I don't want Vrabs comfortable. I want him on edge, at his best, and winning.

You have to keep Tannehill to transition. I'm not sure Willis is the guy at all. I think he is another J-Rob flyer pick, but we will see. Hope he is if they are going to invest in his development.
