10 really isn't that many. He doesn't force fumbles. He's a good player, not a great player.

I think most can agree he's a significant upgrade over Kam Wimbley at this point, at least on paper.

Yo, quit pissing in our Cheerios Yank! :)

I know right. I would kill for ten more sacks next year. The team got better by signing him. I'm happy with it.

10 sacks is what you look for. You want a 10 sack guy on each side. When you have that, you have something on defense.

Last season only about 18 players recorded 10 sacks or more. So a ten sack guy is something have the NFL defenses did not have.

10 sacks is a great number.

You guys are the ones crying. He's an above average (good) player. He's not a great or a game changer. I never said it was a bad signing.

Orakpos numbers are nearly identical to Hardy (and you could easily argue that they're better). Idk why he's receiving so much more love.

I'd say because we haven't see Orakpo in the past few seasons. I'm with you though, I think it was a good pickup and I hope him and Morgan are a nasty combo.

Wait, what? Hardy had 15 sacks last year he played and IIRC had like 4 in a game. Orakpo wasn't even the best pass rusher on his own team.

Hardy has 27 sacks in his last 32 games. Orakpo has 15 in his last 32. Orakpo had worse players around him and is good, but Hardy is a monster.

They'd probably play different positions for us anyway though. I would think Hardy would be a 3-4 DE, not an OLB.

When was he accused of rape?

Was this the whole "dated a 17 year old" thing from a while back?

Because New York's age of consent is 17.

In fact, it's 16 for most states in this country.

Oh, not talking about that. Was talking about this...

USC's Sanchez Arrested by LAPD - latimes

USC quarterback Mark Sanchez, who was battling to become the Trojans' starter, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexual assault.

He ended up off the hook. USC never took any actions against him and in fact, Carroll publicly supported him. He may very well be innocent but not a thing happened to him during the process of finding out. He was pretty smug about the whole thing. Kind of like a rapist who just got away with rape. Who knows though, I always thought he was one of the worst QB's in the NFL regardless therefore I wouldn't want him anyways. But yeah, I remember the whole rape thing and Carroll supporting Sanchez.

Music City Miracle.

One yard shy.

Music City Miracle was awesome so I'll always love Dyson for that. Moss may not have put his hands behind his body to catch the ball and it may have been ruled a forward pass. With that being said, I believe in Randy Moss to run down a sideline no differently than Dyson had we had Moss instead of Dyson. Though, we may never have been in that situation to begin with if we had Moss instead of Dyson. Moss can put up double Dyson's stats like it's nothing. Who needs a 70 yard kick return when you can just throw it 70 yards to Moss earlier in the game? :)

Argue all you want about Hardy, but someone convicted of the crime he committed is no person you want representing your organization. Don't care about the stats or ability.

On June 15, 2014, Hardy was convicted of assaulting his partner Nicole Holder.[14] According to Holder, “On May 13, 2014, Greg Hardy attacked me in his apartment. Hardy picked me up and threw me into the tile tub area in his bathroom. I have bruises from head to toe, including my head, neck, back, shoulders arms, legs, elbow and feet. Hardy pulled me from the tub by my hair, screaming at me that he was going to kill me, break my arms and other threats that I completely believe. He drug me across the bathroom and out into the bedroom. Hardy choked me with both hands around my throat while I was lying on the floor. Hardy picked me up over his head and threw me onto a couch covered in assault rifles and/or shotguns. I landed on those weapons. Hardy bragged that all of those assault rifles were loaded. Landing on those weapons bruised [my] neck and back. Hardy screamed for his “administrative assistant” (Sammy Curtis) to come into the room and hold me down. Curtis came into the room, grabbed me from behind and held me down. Hardy and Curtis then took me into the living room area. I wasn’t nearly strong or fast enough to escape. I begged them to let me go & I wouldn’t tell anyone what he did. They took me out into the hall, pushed me down & went back inside his apartment. I crawled to the elevator and ran into CMPD (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department)

Verdict: Guilty. Not just accused of a crime. Found guilty.

I'm not sure Moss would have ended up 2nd or 3rd or whatever Dyson was on the depth chart for the play/ special teams.

After the seasons (statistically) Moss had both that year and his rookie year, he would have more then likely drawn too much extra attention being out there on a last second kick return. If anything, he would be more likely to have ended up in Wychek's role in the play (meaning he would have been the one throwing the lateral) than Dyson's (who was replacing an injured Derrick Mason).

(Also, putting his hands behind his body wasn't what made them rule it a lateral; it was the path of the ball and how Wychek threw it. Whoever's receiving a straight throw like that, at that spot, doesn't really get an option of putting his hands in front of or behind his body when he gets the ball).

I wasn't saying we should sign him, just that saying Orakpo is roughly equivalent on the field is definitely not true. But to be fair, that verdict was appealed and the charges dropped. (Of course, the circumstances surrounding that development are pretty sketchy too.)

How is it not true? Look at their numbers:

Hardy: 40 sacks in 63 games

Orakpo: 40 sacks in 71 games

One thing to note is that you should probably look at starts instead of games, or you're penalizing Hardy for not being an immediate starter as a rookie sixth-round pick. He has 27 sacks in 40 starts. More recently, the disparity is even bigger, as you can see in my post from 7:37 (depending on your time zone).

At the same time you're rewarding Hardy for one incredible season he had, during a contract year I believe.

Where as Orakpo has hovdred around 10 sacks every year he's been healthy.

Not weighing in on Hardy vs. Orakpo history or the Hardy baggage (which isn't pretty). Just stating that Orakpo was definitely the better signing IMO. I think Orakpo better fits the LeBeau style scheme that is being developed. The organization is taking a chance on him staying healthy as compared to taking a huge talent with deep character flaws.

IMO it's almost like the Winston debate. Huge talent with huge character issues. The organization has lived through enough character issues with PacMan, VY, Albert, etc. without knowingly adding another one.
