I sat on a capital campaign with a member of the Rice Board of Trustees about 5 years ago. Their endowment at the time was approaching $10 Billion.

The advantages of the private schools (ie Vandy, Stanford, Rice, etc) have gone away with NIL and full scholarships. They were providing grants and aid to athletes.
