The Official St. Bonaventure @ Tennessee Series Thread (Fri. 3/7 6PM EST) (Sat. 3/8 6PM EST) (Sun. 3/9 1PM EST) (All Games On SECNET+)

Can’t ask someone to do something I wouldn’t do, I’d rather run, staff would be there all night. 😂
Oh no, the running would be at the start of the next practice if I were Coach. And it would be timed. And if you don’t beat the time then the whole team runs a pole while you do pushups until the last teammate crosses the finish line.

Great game. Kept going back and forth between here and listening on UT sports. My son got his first start pitching for his high school team tonight. He’s only a freshman but the little snot made varsity. They gave em 3 innings. 7 k’s and 2 walks.
Somewhere in my mind I picture Coach Anderson reading this post and a blood vessel swelling then rupturing in the middle of his forehead as he curses a 14 year old he has never even heard of.

Last chance for Santa Clara, trailing Texas 4-1…walk, 1 out…full…foul…grounds out, 2 away…PH for SC…down…4-2, 1 on 2 outs tying run at the plate…0-2…foul, K, Texas escapes.

CSUN 3, UCSB 3, B13…runners on the corners, 1 out for#16 UCSB…walk off on a balk for UCSB, golly, 4-3.

Here is something I did not know, on multiple levels. Former Coach Dave Serrano is still coaching. He’s HC at Johnson University, which is about 12 miles from my house. I had no idea.

His former team, UC Irvine is trying to claw its’s way back in a game against The Dirtbags of LBSU, so I thought I’d see what he was up to. What do you know? Good on him.

UC Irvine trails, 9-7, T7.

Super Utility Dalton Bargo can play 3B, 1B, C, LF, & RF. That means he has 4 gloves for every game. For the 2024 season, he had virtually identical stats to Reese Chapman. We all know what an incredible start, Reese has gotten off to During his Junior year. I think Dalton Bargo could do the same. Personally, I’d love to see Bargo become an everyday starter (he can migrate to various positions as needed) as I think his experience and talent will be vital during the long SEC season.

It was cool watching him catch the final out of the combined no hitter last night after playing stellar defense at 3B. His versatility allows lots of flexibility with the lineup so they can play matchups against certain pitchers.

If anyone has the time and you want to really get giddy over this team, go to sec sports.com and ncaa baseball division 1 and take a thorough look at the stats both in the SEC and nationally. It will blow your mind. SEC has updated thru Friday games while the NCAA has updated thru Thursday games. It’s really hard to believe how many team and individual categories we are leading or ranked in top ten.

I give CTV so much admiration for 1st being able to assemble this much talent and second to keep it all together. Most of these guys would be everyday starters on all P4 teams, all the egos are checked at the door amazing feat for these days and times...

Rice was a bona fide top 5 program in the 90s/00s. They’ve really fallen off. Guess as the sport became more money driven they couldn’t keep up anymore.

Wayne Graham, the coach that brought all the success in the era you mention retired and they’ve been wandering in the desert since 2018. Yes, I had to look it up.

We know what that feels like.

Absolutely. NIL and ”everyone is a free agent every year” aka the portal has made it exponentially more challenging for coaches. CTV and staff seem to be doing a great job managing those egos and alpha personalities.
