The Official Selection Sunday Thread

That's just protocol, man. 1 and 2's seeds are rarely paired from the same conference. I'm not sure how often that's happened. But it would be interesting to know. I just don't have the energy or time. But would be glad to know if someone decided to post it.:eek:k:

oh ok, I thought you meant it would be wrong for Duke and UNC specifically.

The decision of Tennessee's seeding was made before North Carolina won their conference, then? Because that is when the RPI changed.

No, it wouldn't really be fair for any conference with both a 1 and 2 seed in the dance. That particular NCAA tournament split of 1 and 2 seeds has happened to UNC/Duke a lot as both have had good seasons like this year about as often as any two teams from any one conference, I'd guess (again, it's a statistic someone probably knows or can find).

UNC's win was before the Big 12 game and the posting here was after I watched the Heels game. I don't know when the data was entered. At the time, the Vols were 2nd.

I guess it really doesn't matter. The difference between UNC's and Tennessee's RPI is less than 3 thousandths of a point.

let's get over it. Most of the talking heads don't like the makeup of our team and our style. I agree to some degree, but we have been morphing into more of a tourney team.

Let's believe that the rebounding, defending bunch that we saw later in the season is the one that shows up for these 6. If that happens and Tyler is assertive on O, we can overcome our PG play and drill this region into the ground.

Bring all of 'em. Go Vols.

Coach Knight picks Pitt to beat UCLA in FF and Pitt to win the NC..this guy is so not wanting to be there right now lol

From ESPN, this is the 1st time ever that the #1 Team in the RPI did not get a #1 seed !!!!!!!

I thought I read that after this weekend, UNC has the highest RPI.

Also, the Chairman basically said they did not pay attention to RPI.

i quite agree that AU will probably get a real beat down, but the anticipation and buildup to the game for AU's long suffering alumni will be quite enjoyable. has the time for the game been set, yet?

And if Ramar steps it up like the tourney last year, look out.
