The Official Selection Sunday Thread

I do. I was in middle school. Probably the first NCAA tournament that I remember.
I was beginning Jr High too.

I guarantee you remember Jordan's shot and Sleepy's gaffe to give Dean Smith his first. That was 82ish.
you also have to remember Magic v Bird. That one hooked me on college ball forever. I was a litle tyke, but I won't forget that.

First I really remember was Al McGuire's Marquette squad getting it done.

I may be a year younger than you. I remember the Jordan shot but mostly from years if it being replayed, not so much an original memory.

Keith Smart hitting that jumper is for sure the original live big moment first planted in my memory.

These are really something...

The match-up considerations are more important to me, unless you get close to your home court.

I heard Hubert Davis say that Charlotte is the same distance from Chapel Hill as it is from Knoxville, so UNC doesn't have an advantage. What a homer!

Pearl on ESPN now!

what did he say? was on my way back to niu.. we had our spring break this week.

talked about being a 2 seed, maybe playing NC in Charlotte and Tyler Smith..bout it. nothing major.

Your really dreaming aren't you. I cannot wait to dispose of the Vols.
Now having said that I'm proud of your team. Living in Knoxville....I like the vols club..much better than I do the football team.
UT needs to learn to do more than shoot three's and slam dunk...that's all they do.
Plus your half court Defense is not very good and against Carolina that's bad news.
I think if Tennessee gets to the final 8 though...you'll have continued your climb towards the top.
Good luck!

Does UNC have a football team?

Well, I was wrong about Kansas. I overlooked 2 key things. The committee's instructions were to pick who they thought were best teams, not who earned it. That came from the NCAA. I'll keep my peace about how you think a team with 1 RPI top 25 win all year is one of the 4 best teams. The other is geography. The committee chairman basically said it was done to keep us close to home. I think it's a horrible way to run a railroad, but given those mandates, they did all they can do. The committee also mislead people in saying that the conference tournaments would count for much less this year. That obviously was not the case.

If it helps, the Heels boards consider it the toughest bracket as well.

I don't think there can really be any legitimate argument put forth that any region other than the East is the toughest. Indiana as a #8 seed is ridiculous, Butler as a #7 seed is insane, and UT is certainly one of the two toughest #2 seeds (Texas being the other).

I think the South is really tough. Mississippi St. is a tough matchup for Memphis with their length and Memphis' ability to shoot. Texas is a very good 2 seed, I thought they deserved the 1 seed over Kansas, they split and Texas actually had a few other good wins. I also think Stanford is really good and Pitt is coming in red hot. Memphis is the only 1 seed in serious danger before the first weekend is over.

I like Memphis' second round better than I like UNC's.

KU - TX was a 3 fest.

In all reality, teams without the big 3 driller will get sent home.

As good as UF was, Humphrey was there saving grace in both tourney runs.

Same could be said for Ron Lewis. Without his clutch shooting during the season last year OSU would have never made it to the sweet 16. Not to mention he saved 2 regular season games for them last season
