The Official Selection Sunday Thread

I can only hope Louisville gets upset so it makes it easier for us, it never hurts to dream. Will we have to wait until tomorrow, to find out the start time of our game on Friday?

Good question- I've been looking around to try to find a time.

Ok I remember that. I am so tired of this crap on tv. I hate these commentators. I use to think we had a chip on our shoulders but I do believe that they ESPN and committees do not respect this team. We have manage to pull out the 9mm and shot some toes off of our feet with the showing at the SEC T. However these idiots are putting it on us.

When will the NCAA release the schedule for what time each individual game will take place?

JOE LUNARDI: Usually mid-Monday.

Virginia Tech had a chance. All they had to do was beat UNC. They didn't. That was their tournament.

hey there vols!

looks like i'm the first AU eagle to show up and post on this thread. AU will most likely get killed, but i'm hoping that tennessee comes out a bit flat and the eagles keep it close for a half. you guys should have a huge height advanatage (as well as a general athletic advantage) throughout the fame. the only hope for AU is if D. Mercer comes out hot from the perimeter and if they limit their turnovers. This is Au's first time in the tournament (ever!) and hopefully will make a good showing.

Evidently he was only one team off.

Wrong. We were still the top rated 2 seed and were rewarded by playing close to home. He guaranteed we would be a 3 seed. Oh by the way, what seed did you get in the NIT?

American University - 65 points per game

Beat Maryland by 8, lost to Georgetown by 27. Play 8 on a normal basis.

G Derrick Mercer 5'9" 12.5
G Garrison Carr 5'11" 18.1
F Bryce Simon 6'6" 7.2
F Brian Gilmore 6'8" 8.7
F Travis Lay 6'5" 6
F Jordan Nichols 6'5" 4.2
G Frank Borden 6'4" 2.7
C Cornelio Guibunda 6'9" 2.6

My take is that SEC Commissioner Slive, 'our' representative on the Selection Committee, cut a deal. Kentucky gets in and the SEC gets 6 schools in.....and in exchange, Slive went along with the Committee hosing the Vols by making them the #4 2-Seed. I know Kentucky was considered in by a lot of 'experts', but their credentials aren't as impressive as ASU and a few others with burst bubbles.

we are not the last #2 seed

No, you are wrong, The weakest #2 seed is put in the same bracket as the Overall #1 seed.

actually it would be fun to hear them talk. I may make some calls later tonight :)

They have a tough one to swallow after beating UA twice, having a better record in the conference, and then seeing their rivals get in. UA has all that heritage to talk trash about as well. So, even in a bad year for UA, ASU still has to watch. You should have some interesting conversations. Let us know how it goes. :)

no, you are wrong. that is absolutely not true. there is no way Georgetown was the top 2 seed, but they are playing with the last 1 seed.

UNC would have preferred a weaker 2 seed.

If it comes to that game, it will be a fast-paced game.

I don't think the S curve held true this year. UT is playing close to home as a "reward".

Their criteria for getting the higher seeds changed this year, also. The RPI and SOS were discounted, and total losses & winning your conferenmce tourney became more important.

UT got screwed.
