The Official Selection Sunday Thread

I think the point is that 12 wins over tourney teams is more impressive than just 6.

Oh, I fully agree. Was just pointing out the same percentages. I'm sure I'm wrong about the 6-2 stat anyway, as I just took a brief glimpse of the field before my retort.

Not trying to sound like I've got some sort of inferiority complex or something, but I truly believe that if our jerseys read "Kentucky" or "Duke" or "North Carolina" across the front instead of Tennessee, I think our #1 RPI and #1 SOS would have been enough to get that #1 seed. I still can't believe this.
Of course it would but that's neither here nor there. If Tennessee wants that kind of respect, they have a golden opportunity to get things started by getting to and beating UNC in this tournament.

Just by looking at the brackets very quickly, I believe Duke is 6-2. Same percentage, right?
Uhhh. no, They lost 4 to teams in the field. Pitt, UNC, Miami and Clemson.

Three of those were from their conference, you didn't look very hard.

I think we’ll handle American. I see Butler losing to S Ala. So we’ll play them on what would be a home game for them. And S Ala is pretty good. Oh man.

I like our team's chances overall to get to the Final Four if the refs keep their whistles in check for the ticky-tack touches, it suits our syle of play alot.

We got a #2, great for Pearl to build on with the team before Friday. They can play the disrespect card and carry it with them to the tournament.

we aren't playing Duke in Charlotte. We'll be heavily represented there. In the end, to win this thing, we're going to have to beat the best teams. Of those at the top of the pile, I think UNC is least suited to winning it all because of their pathetic D. All of the other 1s would be deadly for us.

We would have no prayer in a bracket with UCLA or Kansas. We do with UNC.

I think we could run with UCLA... I may be crazy but they are very overrated.

that's what I said. and the committee chair tried to imply that they look at teams. what a crock?

I'm furious. Just unbelievable. In every way you could possibly look at it, we have a superior resume to Duke (who, im my opinion, should be a 3 seed), yet we get stuck with the toughest possible draw. I understand, and expected, Kansas to bump us out of the 1 seed, because we didn't take care of business vs. Arkansas, but this is ludicrous.

I forgot about the PITT game. As well as Clemson's win at Cameron.

As for looking "hard," I believe I stated at least twice, that it was a very brief glimpse.

I don't think the committee puts the grid together by ranking seeds....Meaning, they don't necessarily place the "best" #2 with the "worst" #1 and the "worst" #2 with the "best" #1 and so on....The committee tries very hard to make the regions well balanced and to create attractive intraregional early round matchups that will draw fan interest...This does not mean we are the 4th #2 at all in the eyes of the committee or anybody.

Lord, if we're depending on the refs, we might as well pack it in right now.

I disagree. I think Butler will be more than a match for S. Alabama, and will be an interesting game for Tennessee. But I know no more than you so we will see. I just think Butler is a solid team.

I think Chris and JaJuan are going to go crazy and we will make a long run :good!:
