...the sport was already mocked as a whole.
Despite their best efforts, it's still viewed as maniac rednecks making left turns all day.
The sports biggest day is opening day. Nothing else on the calendar gets the attention Daytona does.
I view this format as an honest effort to change that. ...to keep it pointed towards growth.
You may not like the results this year, but the ratings are going up and phoenix was sold out on Monday.
Harvick has been awesome all season. A few bad breaks is what has set him back but he and Gordon have been the class of the field all season. As long as Harvick brings the same effort he has all season, he'll win his first championship.
Not at all. But to have a shot to win the sport's Championship without winning a race is mind blowing. Especially when a guy with 4 wins and 14 top 5s doesn't have that same shot.So from what I am gathering the way some of you are talking if a guy wins 10 races but finishes last in the rest he should be in the Chase?
Will any of these guys be a popular champ?
I say maybe harvick, but then again I hold him in high regard from 2001.
.....depends on how you measure popularity.
They all have their own cluster of fans but I can't imagine most of them becoming "jr." popular.
Logano is young enough to the focus of an ad campaign.
Hamlin maybe but he's always seemed kinda dry to me.
Newman.... he's the underdog but he has Gordon's followers all bent out of shape at the moment.
Harvick is kind of a wildcard. ....great driver but he's pissed off almost everyone at one time or another.
Nascar isn't like most sports where he champ instantly becomes the most popular guy in town. Kenseth has 2 titles but he can't rep or sell anything because he has all the personality of a screen door.
Im a Gordon fan and I was pretty pissed Sunday. All I have to say is that Newman better win the championship or that foolish move would be for naught.
Question. Will the 3 drivers who dont win the championship revert back to regular points like the others who have gotten eliminated?
