The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

Somebody needs to inform them that the influx of new fans has long since ended and most everyone watching now knows the ins and outs of what's going on. There's no need to try and find some NFL analogy for everything that happens.

But I look forward to learning about windshield tear offs during the first caution pit stops every week.

I know the backroads to Bristol so getting there was always easy. Extremely easy two weeks ago haha. Didn't even have to take the backroads. The buses get you anywhere you need to so you don't really walk much.

Well from what I was reading, apparently Rockingham had declining attendance when they gave one of its dates taken away, and when they got rid of it period in 2004 attendance had gotten really bad.

Wilkesboro seems to have fallen into bad shape and no one wanted to offer up the coin to get it up to snuff.

Bristol these days is just sad. But then again, I am not paying $75 bucks for seats that take forever to get to. Traffic I will be stuck in for hours, and parking miles away. Gimme a pair of UT football tickets for a total of $75 that I can go pregame for in a nearby bar.

Wilkesboro didn't have the infrastructure to support the growth of the sport. Not just the track either. The city and area too.

If that's how you're doing Bristol, you're doing it wrong.

The Rock needs to come back like now. I love that track. Oh and Iowa need a Cup date as well.

And Darrell Waltrip is the Dick Vitale of NASCAR. I miss Ned Jarrett, Benny Parsons and Buddy Baker.

You do know DW was/is fairly popular? Darrell was the first driver I was a fan of as a kid in the late 80's and he stayed my favorite up until he retired.

Do you not think DW knows what he is talking about? Unlike Dick Vitale, Darrell is actually a champion at the sport he talks about! A 3-time Cup Champion, 3-Time Runner-Up. 84 Career Wins, Daytona 500 Champion, 5-time Coke 600 Winner and at one time won 7 consecutive races at Bristol between 1981 & 1984 and a 2-Time NASCAR Most Popular Driver!

During the early 80's in his prime he was the Jeff Gordon/Jimmy Johnson of that era fans either loved him or hated him with a passion! Fifteen/Twenty years from now some is going to be saying the same thing about Gordon, Johnson or Earnhardt Jr.

And like Dick Vitale, he's an obnoxious parody of a color commentator.

Just because you were great at one job does not mean you will be great at another. Michael Jordan was great at basketball, not so great at being a team executive.

And what does any of that have to do with his commentary?

All of that doesn't make him a good commentator.

DW was my favorite driver growing up as well. Love the Tide #17 car. I got to meet him twice. He was nice both times. That being said, watching him on TV has made me not care for him at all now. To me he acts almost "silly" sometimes and the boogity boogity boogity thing drives me nuts.

I would say that the awfulness that is the Fox/Waltrip family marriage has caused me to pay less attention, I just can't stand to watch an entire race.

They've (Fox) also ruined Raceday. We did have Kyle, Kenny and Wendy, and now we have Larry, Darrell and Darrell. :)

DW was a great race car driver and was my favorite for many years but he gets on my nerves sometimes. Knowledgeable yes, but not very entertaining. I'm just over Mikey. Hits a nerve everytime he says something. And Chris Meyers needs to stick to football. JMO

DW is a little cuckoo but the entire Fox broadcast is top notch. I really like Larry Mac and Hammy. My perfect crew combined would be Bestwick, Larry Mac, and Benny (RIP) with Hammond and Weber.

The picks this week are gonna be a crapshoot, since both Saturday practices were cancelled. We'll all be kind of rolling the dice.
