The "official" Lost thread

And here's the worst possibility of all, something that would piss off the entire viewing audience. The writers may not ever really tell us what the island is. They just focus on the characters and resloving the character story lines without explaining what the island is, who Jacob/Smoke Man/Richard are, etc. I read this idea on some Lost board and they cited to some interviews with the producers that have lead some to believe that they will never tell us. Now THAT would be irritating. If they don't tell us before the show ends then . . . I'll never watch that damn show again!

If that happens you can count me out on next season!!!!

Smokie said "unlike John, I want to go home." Paraphrasing.

IMO Smokie is referring to the fact that he has been locked out of the temple. In the earlier seasons the smoke monster would go to the temple. He would also drag his victims through the hole in the temple wall.

In the present time...The temple people occupy the temple.

Early on in the show, Rose said that the sounds the smoke monster made sounded familiar. Someone asked where she was from, to which she replied "The Bronx." Just something to think about.

IMO....When smokie Locke came out from killing jacob he looked at Richard and said "Good to see you out of those chains"....

My take on that is that the temple people were all slaves on the Black Rock...and maybe smokie freed them to look over the island, they double crossed smokie and that is why he is "disappointed in all of them"

More ridiculous then parallel time and alternate realities? I agree with that it's not aliens but calling a theory ridiculous given some of the stuff on this show is a stretch.

Can't wait until tomorrow night though. This being the last season I think we should receive more and more answers with every episode. SHOULD...

The reason I think it is ridiculous is because there has been nothing that has even hinted at alien life. The show is all about foreshadowing and has always dropped hints of what is coming but not one has had anything to do with aliens.

I can not think of one thing that has even alluded to aliens. Yeah Juliet mentioned that they were building the runway for aliens in season 3 but she was just making a joke.

The writers have dropped hints in some cases 3-4 seasons in advance and none have had anything to do with aliens. There are a ton of questions that still need to be answered and only a few episodes left to do it. I think its a little late to be throwing curve balls.

They were also too smart to rely on cheesy ol' time travel and, in fact, early on denied the use of time travel in any way in the show. Well, guess what? They lied, and here we are looking at time travel all over the show. They have denied aliens too, but clearly they can't be trusted.

As for ultimate explanations, if you think it through, there really are only a few options:

1. It's God/angels/demons in the true spiritual sense somehow testing man.

2. Time travel, i.e., advanced civilization from the future is somehow manipulating the past.

3. The alien idea.

4. Multi-Dimensional ideas based in quantum physics, whatever that means.

What other possibilities are there? The authoris can't throw something out there like "Atlantis" without further explaining what "Atlantis" is. The ultimate explanation of what is happening can only fall into a few categories, none of which will be new and any of which will probably piss all of us off or disappoint us.

When did the writers deny time-travel? Do you have a link? I honestly have never heard that. If they did say that, it still has nothing to do with aliens. What if Adam and Eve turn out to be characters we already know? Maybe its Rose and Bernard or Desmond and Penny. If thats the case, then it proves that time travel has always been a part of the plan.

As I just said, the show is all about foreshadowing and the writers have been plotting a battle against good and evil since Locke was talking to Walt in the pilot. Nothing has even hinted at aliens. I will give you props if it really is aliens, but IMO I don't see it happening.

Ethan off the island helping Claire go to full term again was interesting. I thought it was a solid episode overall, reintroducing Claire who has "the sickness" should be fun. I have a feeling alot more of the acient history AKA Black Rock is about to come into play the next few weeks.

btw

RIP

It's obviously going to get interesting from here on out. A lot of new things have been thrown at us now the past two weeks.

Well I think you entirely missed the point of my original post on this idea. The idea of aliens visiting earth in ancient times is not a new idea. Many argue that the evidence of it can be found in ancient cultures throughout the world, including in ancient Egypt, pyramids the world over, ancient symbols, pictures, etc. Obviously, ancient Egypt, pyramids, mysterious symbols, etc., play a big part in Lost. All of those things would be the link to the ancient aliens. It seems to me that this is exactly the kind of thing that the writers of Lost might just do. Subtle hints, but nothing too direct or it would be too easy to figure out.

Well, just out of curiosity, I thought I would do a little research on the assertion that Lost has never said anything about aliens. It took me about two minutes to stumble across Walt. Remember him? Remember his comic book? Well, guess what it’s about? An alien who falls to earth, accidentally, and becomes stranded on earth and subjected to testing by humans. Said alien has mind control powers and claims it has a natural life of thousands of years. I didn’t read the whole thing. Here’s the link: ABC's Lost: Hurley's/Walt's comic - a set on Flickr

There are episodes like last night in every season....You feel like they are just spinning their wheels, it was definitely a set up episode....You have to have those.
