Alan, Allan, Allen, Al. Who gives a sh*t?

Not similar. Which one is which?

26.7 per game, 6.2 assists, 3.7 boards

27.7 per game 5.8 assists, 5.3 boards

one shoots 20x a game the other 21x

One had a cast the other did not

My point is that players like Jodie Meeks are USELESS without Kobe Bryant being double teamed. Nothing in your statistical world captures that.

There is some truth to that, but at the same time, if guys like Meeks can't spread the floor, then the Kobes and the Howards become impotent because they gets all the D's attention.

You're getting closer to the light.

A completely statistical view of performance would overvalue players with easier roles. No?

I don't know that there are easier roles. When Kobe jacks up 23 shots per game with a banged up wrist, and shoots terribly, the reason his role is difficult is because he made it that way. Doubling Kobe is a good strategy because Kobe will some times take on the double. I'm not convinced you have a more difficult role as long as you play smart basketball. Lebron has a more impactful role than Wade, but Lebron passes when he should, so I don't know that it's any more difficult.

BTW, I finally started using the filter on basketballreference.com to sort player accomplishments (God help you all)...

Over the last 3 years there are only 10 players who shot 38%+ from 3pt, and had 800+ attempts and one of them is Meeks. It seems he does have unique ability, so I'm not sure his role is "easy". To put that in perspective there are 13 players who have averaged 20+ points the last 3 seasons.

They hack him a few times at the end of every quarter.

Edit: 8-10 on hack a Howard free throws. Why can't he shoot that way all the time?

What's funny is the rest of the Lakers shot 50% from FT.

Howard did well, but even if he did his season average from FT, it's a bad strategy because he'd still be scoring more efficiently than the Magic did last night.

ankle, out indefinitely.

probs just some setup so he can make a heroic comeback in like 2 games.
