The Official Lakers Thread

Kobe looks 10 years younger tonight. This team is clicking on all cylinders.

I'm not a Kobe fan, to say the least but I can't help but respect his drive and will to win. To steal a quote " if you pretend to be something long enough, it's no longer pretending."

I believe his entire agenda was based on being Jordan and now it's being better than Jordan. While I don't agree with how he projects himself, I have to give him his due. He has logged a ton of minutes and is playing better than ever.

But for a losing team. The Lakers aren't a championship team, it's not happening but if they manage to get in to the playoffs, they will make life miserable for whoever they play.

Assuming Dwight isn't completely checked out by then and Kobe doesn't break down from the astronomical minutes he's putting in.

Ron artest is Overrated and a liability for this team. Dwight has no heart or will to win. I still don't believe he cares anything about being in LA.

They're going to get in..and they're going to be dangerous.

Assuming they do get in, they are going to what? ... 7th seed at best? Which means they are going to draw the Clips or OKC. I am not seeing it. At some point you are what your records says you are. And if they are that
8th seed, then the Spurs it is, who have beat them both times they've played. Team is just aging and the younger players they do have seem disinterested. Just my opinion of course, I could be wrong.

Watched them recently or just humming along on early season reports and media obsessions?

They beat a team 15 games below .500 last night and got thumped by a team 15 games over .500 the game before. I am not drinking that kool aid. The team they are chasing (the Rockets) have the easiest remaining schedule in the NBA. Their best hope of making it in to that 8th seed is the Jazz floundering down the stretch with their 15th toughest schedule opposed to the Lakers 5th. They are beating teams they should be beating, and at best, going forward to finish .500 against teams with winning records. That team doesn't scare me.

Lakers fans have been protecting Kobe and dogging their "lazy" bigs since like 2000.

Who has. Shaq was the best thing going for LA. Dwight on the other hand is worse than last year.

It is funny to me that everybody was dogging him last year for not putting his best foot forward and now it is the lakers fans. Comical.

Again how are you blaming this year on Kobe?

I didn't...it's the first elite season Kobe's had in years.

People always dogged Shaq for being lazy in the regular season, nevermind he was the main reason they won so many regular season games.

Lakers fans have turned on Odom, Bynum, and Gasol anytime they felt like they needed something to complain about. I'm not sure where you live, or how many Lakers fans you know, but there are a ton in SLC and Phoenix, and they all complain about lazy bigs. I can't tell you how many times I heard people complain that "Odom disappears" the season he won 6th man of the year.

And now with an injured Howard leading the league in rebounds, Lakers fans are questioning his effort.

Supposedly.
