The Official Lakers Thread

Whether or not you want to say he has a fake injury, he's still leading the league in rebounds, and is well above the average center in steals, blocks, and fouls. Consider he's among the biggest centers. These are not the signs of a player who lacks effort.

What would be a reason for him to fake an injury? How would that help his cause in any way? Not saying you said that but just asking.

I don't think he's faking. If he doesn't re-sign with LA, I'll be shocked. LA would've dealt him if they weren't entirely confident about him re-signing...unless they have something up their sleeve.

I'm not a Kobe fan, to say the least but I can't help but respect his drive and will to win. To steal a quote " if you pretend to be something long enough, it's no longer pretending."

I believe his entire agenda was based on being Jordan and now it's being better than Jordan. While I don't agree with how he projects himself, I have to give him his due. He has logged a ton of minutes and is playing better than ever.

But for a losing team. The Lakers aren't a championship team, it's not happening but if they manage to get in to the playoffs, they will make life miserable for whoever they play.

Assuming Dwight isn't completely checked out by then and Kobe doesn't break down from the astronomical minutes he's putting in.

Hi r/NBA, my name is Robert and I'm an athletic trainer. This is my Kobe Bryant work ethic story. : nba

I didn't...it's the first elite season Kobe's had in years.

People always dogged Shaq for being lazy in the regular season, nevermind he was the main reason they won so many regular season games.

Lakers fans have turned on Odom, Bynum, and Gasol anytime they felt like they needed something to complain about. I'm not sure where you live, or how many Lakers fans you know, but there are a ton in SLC and Phoenix, and they all complain about lazy bigs. I can't tell you how many times I heard people complain that "Odom disappears" the season he won 6th man of the year.

And now with an injured Howard leading the league in rebounds, Lakers fans are questioning his effort.

What are you talking about?

When shaq was here more people liked shaq. Kobe was not loved his first few years.

Lakers fans always liked odom but he took games off.

We like gasol he is just soft.

People didn't like Bynum because there were always stories in the paper about how big a scumbag he is.

Howard has said his effort wasn't high enough cuz he was out of shape.

Lol at this is Kobe's first elite season in years.

I'm not talking about Kobe's first few years. I'm talking about fans largely taking Kobe's side during the feud years. Obviously you wanted both to stay, but Kobe was the favorite, and Shaq was "lazy". Anything else is revisionist history.

You're proving my point about the way Gasol and Odom are/were viewed.

Lakers fans were wanting to trade Pau and Bynum for Howard. I think that tells you something about how Lakers fans feel about their bigs. And now they complain about Howard.

Pretty sure they wanted to keep Kobe because his career wasn't ending, but revisionists gonna revision I guess.

Keep hitting that rock. Your persistence is admirable.

Nhuffines does this every year. Just hates Kobe.

Kobe used to be one of my favorite players. I hated his personality, but loved his game. Once I bought into the notion of efficiency I changed my mind about Kobe. I'll give him props when he plays well (like I said he's having an elite season), and I'll call him overrated when he gets undue acclaim. None of that has to do with hate, IMO. You can't seem to call him on the carpet when he's lacking. Maybe I am a hater, but it's certain you're a slurper.

Gasol said himself that he was soft after the boston loss in the 08 finals.
