My Utah Jazz may actually have a chance tonight considering the Lakers are probably worn out.

The one positive addition for this season has been Metta World Peace's ability to actually create his own offense.

Nobody seems to believe me when I say Kobe is overrated and Bynum/Gasol are underrated...

Kobe's stat line: 26 ppg, 6 apg, 6 rpg, 1 spg, 4 topg, .417 FG%, .212 3P%, .503 TS% (league average is .530). That's pretty damn awful and they are 4-3 despite him.

Kobe is carrying the entire team this season. Of course his stats are going to be down. Bynum has been out, Odom was traded and the bench has been a joke. I like Gasol, but it's obvious the trade talk has messed him up. Meanwhile, Bynum is doing exactly what I thought he would, but any second he's going to hurt his knee. It's too bad the Rockets and Lakers couldn't have just completed a Gasol for Scola, Landry and 1st round pick trade. That would have made the Lakers the best team in the Western Conference.

FWIW the Lakers not named Kobe are averaging:

69 ppg, 39 rpg, 15 apg, 5 spg, 5 bpg, 10 topg, and shooting 47% (Kobe's shoting 43%).

To better put this in perspective, Kobe (per 36) is averaging:

27 pp, 6.7 rpg, 5.8 apg, 1 spg, .4 bpg, and 4.4 topg.

Per 36 his teammates are averaging:

12 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.7 apg, .8 spg, 1 bpg, 1.7 topg.

When the other 4 guys on the court are putting up those kinds of numbers, and they are shooting above league average, it's safe to say nobody is carrying them. They're not a great team without Kobe, but it's a supporting cast that no star should complain about.

The turnover stat is very underrated, and collectively the Lakers protect the ball. Kobe has been really sloppy with it, but I expect that to improve (though I consider him a very overrated ball handler....he's never averaged a 2:1 ratio).

Kobe has been an HOF ballhog lately, but it doesn't matter because he's been scoring efficiently (not so much last night, with 6 turnovers). Kobe has been effective, but I wouldn't say he's carrying the team. Gasol went for 19 and 10 last night. Bynum 15 and 11. Fisher had 10 assists and no turnovers. The Lakers have a pretty good squad, turns out.

Kobe's game against the Clipps was awesome. I disagree with the notion that he's been carrying his team, but that night he definitely did.

Another awful night for the Lakers. Worst road record in the NBA right now.

Kobe 2-8 tonight in the 4th quarter. Ugh...not good.

Congratulations to Kobe. Despite the fact that the 2 starting bigs went for 36 and 31, Kobe somehow managed to shoot his team to a L. Ballhogging (10 for 26 w/ 5 turnovers) will get you higher on the all-time list, but I don't understand how you can make your team lose when you outrebound the opposition 55-30. That takes some special talent.

They look terrible tonight. Absolutely awful. Standing on offense, tired obviously, transition d sucks, no o rebounds.

Just bad. They're lucky they're playing the Knicks.

I'm hoping it has to do with a short turnaround from an overtime game against the Celtics. That said, this team has serious flaws and it's imperative for them to get a point guard before the deadline is up.

Why is Kobe flying off the handle about the distraction with Gasol after the Phoenix game? Pau had a very nice game (so did Bynum), and Kobe had a very poor performance. Gasol is averaging 17 and 14 this month (9 games). It doesn't seem to be much of a distraction for him. So is Kobe saying it's distracting old #24?
